I had the honor 6 years ago to bear colors at the home coming of an honor flight in Chicago most amazing experience ever!!! This is a GREAT program!
My Dad and I went in 2009 from Rapid City,SD. He was a WW11 veteran and would have been unable to afford to make this trip. Thanks to Honor Flight, he and I had an awesome 3 day adventure. He was a man of few words but after we arrived back home I made a photobook for him which he showed to everyone. It was an experience I think of often, he is gone now but at least he was able to see HIS memorial. He lays at rest now at Black HIlls National Cemetery near Sturgis,SD. Till we meet again, Dad.
I will have the honor of being my dad's guardian for his Honor flight in April. He is a WWII Veteran and served in North Africa and Italy. I get teary eyed just thinking about how much this is going to mean to him, and the honor of getting to experience this with him! Thank you so much for what you do for our Veterans! Such an awesome tribute for their sacrifice, it shows they are not forgotten! Thank you!
