love it... fantastic food service drinks ambience, never fails, french dip amazing, salads very very good and just the right amount, daily specials and the burgers are great, the tuna a must doesnt feel like a chain check out the LA one tried their sushi here for the first time at the weekend, excellent and well worth it.. goto park avenue, midtown one has limited menu and slow
Best After Work Spot – I went to Houston's on Park Ave on a Tuesday after work. I pass there daily on the way downtown and it always looked as if the people are having a real nice time. Well they are ! , The ambiance / lighting / decor/seating is just right, I sat at the bar. The bartenders were professional, friendly and no matter how busy they were (and believe me for a Tuesday this place was packed) they made small talk and answered your questions with "No Attitude". Unlike Any Other Chain! – You must try the Veggie Burger! They are simply remarkable and never fail to please. The seasonal vegetable selection is divine. Butternut squash salad is another of my favorites. There is occasionally a wait but the bar is very well staffed and usually brimming with interesting characters. The service is impeccable...servers really aim to please!
$13 Chopped Meat Patty – Because of my diet, I ordered a plain broiled meat patty (instead of the full-blown hamburger on the menu that included lettuce, tomato and onion on a house-made bun). They charged me the full price of a hamburger. That's their "policy" ~ and perogative. It was the best chopped meat patty I've ever had and the worst price I've ever paid for one. The $13 price left a bad taste in my mouth.
very romantic – My boyfriend and I went on 2/20/09 and yes like many of you have mentioned, the wait is long. We waited 30 minutes for table. The food(rotessirie chicken) was GREAT my boyfriend was licking his fingers. Atmosphere was romantic he felt he as underdressed. He did not like the fact that he had to take off his hat. the price for a soda is $3 and no refill thats was crazy. But we enjoyed the place.
How can you say no to a paying customer? – We went to Houston's on 53rd Street. In all my years of eating in NYC, I experienced a first. At dinner, my friend ordered a second glass of wine and the waitress insisted she finish her first before agreeing to bring it. There was one sip left in the glass. No one was drinking excessively or acting inappropriately. It's a Waiting Game – The Kirby location is nearest where I live, and the point of reference in this review. I have always enjoyed many of the salad offerings at Houston's, and the veggie burger too. I can't think of a time when I was disappointed with either menu selection. I've always gotten great service at the bar; the wines by the glass are run-of-the-mill, but drinkable nonetheless. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!! – One of my favorite chain restaurants in town... actually probably my favorite chain restaurant in town. Best spinach/artichoke dip I've ever had hands down. Amazing French dip sandwhich. Awesome fries/Hamburger and great ribeye. While the wait can be annoying, I find that going to the bar and having a drink makes always makes the wait more bearable.
great food, great service – i have been into several houston's locations and all of them are really nice and clean, the staff is always friendly and the food is always great, sometimes is more than one hour waiting time but you can enjoy a drink at the bar meanwhile. they took out of the menu the Texas burger, but if you ask them they will prepare it for yourself still on saturdays like usual. they should include the 'tres leches" at all the locations, unfortunately is available only in Miami menu.
