My visit – The other week I took my better half to Houston's on Park Ave, for a birthday dinner. When we sat I was met with some BIG changes!!! The name on the menu was different, a lot of the items were all different, some for the good and some for the bad!! I must admit, there was a lot of new items that sparked my interest. Because, if Houston's does ANYTHING, they do it nice, new, tasteful, and pleasing to the eye! I've been a die-hard fan of this restaurant since they first appeared in NY in '97 in Long Island. But back... read more

Unexpected and unwelcome menu change – Houston's Club Salad is one of the best salads I've ever had, period -- fried chicken, avocado, bacon, assorted cheese, and that infamous buttermilk garlic dressing (the only thing that makes it a salad is the fact that comes on lettuce -- from a fat and calories perspective, it's probably as bad as the burger and fries). So imagine my friend's and my surprise when, after waiting patiently for a good long time (as we expected to do), we sat down to find out that it wasn't on the menu. W... read more

not the place it used to be... – me and my family used to come here every weekend and have a late lunch at the bar. always ordered the same thing, drank the same thing...even sat in the same spot at the bar. we got to know the bartenders over the years, being that same two people waited on us for about two or three years. we had become friendly with them and they made us feel very comfortable. when the bartender saw us walking down the stairs, she would put our drinks on the bar and automatically ring in our appatiser. it wa... read more

Good food, expensive, but nice special occassion meal – Went with a party of 8 for a friends bday. Sat us at two different tables. We were close enough to chat and see each other, but still removed from a whole conversation. Food was good. I had a steak and noodle salad that was pretty amazing. For the price though I would have expected this anyway. Drinks were okay, but still really expensive! It's a nice, special occassion place, but very loud and not at all romantic. Will only go back if it's for someone's bday that actua... read more

Best veggie burger and spinach dip in the world! – Houston's is my guilty pleasure. I always get the same thing - veggie burger (which is absolutely fantastic) and spinach artichoke dip. Not healthy - but soooooo good. Glasses of wine are quite generous.

Why did I expect more than a chain will deliver? – I've enjoyed Houston's in Florida so I thought I would enjoy it here. I guess i find it easieer to accept chain-food on vacation. The portions on Park Avenue are huges, but the food is really below average. A nice bar though if you have to wait.

So Pricey Yet So Worth It – As much as I hate to admit it, this pricey location of the famous Houston's chain is a great place to visit for drinks and for food. The prices alone are overly expensive but man they sure do crank out some very quality food.

Great Food, Great Drinks – The wait was long but we came without reservations. Bartenders were helpful and attentive. Drinks were pricey but the French Martini is now one of my favorite cocktails. We spent $60 for drinks and one appetizer before we even sat down for dinner. Once seated, we had a great waitress (Melissa) and the food was super.

Reliably Excellent – I have been here many times. The service at the bar, and at the tables, is excellent. The food is consistantly delicious from the burgers to the salads, the drinks expertly mixed. They really get it right - have a relatively limited menu and make sure everything on there is top notch. It makes a real difference. I am a dessert fanatic and have yet to find a better brownie a la mode, although if you don't like nuts in your brownie forget it. It raises comfort food to a whole new level.
