The wait time was too long for 9pm on a Thursday. I had prepaid, as I always do, they had to have a card to "determine my identity" then charged the card $500 without telling me. The desk attendant was rude. You can't speak with a human in customer service so I had to reach out through twitter. Will never use Hertz again, shady business all around.
Well I would love to leave less than 1 star. I had a reservation for April 27th at 9 am. I was driving there and at 8:40 get a call they have 5 passengers and that's it. I reserved a 7+ passenger suv. Which I would have taken anything that could hold all the kids. I was suppose to start picking up 6 teenage girls at 10 am. I completed my first trip with my 1 year old daughter The car was beautiful! I loved it. Ford Fiesta, 10/10. Where I have a complaint is when it comes to the car seat that I was provided. It was a Cosco model, manufactured in 2018. It was very flimsy in my opinion and it wasn't exactly designed for the Ford Fiesta. I went to install it and was immediately disappointed that I couldn't tighten it any further because the security strap that keeps the base straps attached to the base was sewn to the strap. Terrible service and business practices. I attempted to book a car to be picked up at New Orleans airport, but after entering my payment info, the site froze and I didn't receive any confirmation. The next day, I booked another reservation through another vendor. When I arrived at the airport the only counter open was Hertz, which I guess is common later in the evening. If you are renting from the Toronto airport be warned they have temporarily switched pick up to terminal 1. It would have been nice for Hertz to send an email including these details, instead it still said pick up in terminal 3. When I arrived, it was very unclear how to get from terminal 3 to terminal 1 to pick up the car. Should be better signage and like I said, an email from Hertz to give a heads up they switched locations and how to get there because you have to take an airport train to get to terminal 1. Hertz left me stranded at 12:30 am at Hartsfield Jackson Airport in Atlanta. I PREPAID for a car. Whats the point to make a reservation and prepay if they don't keep the vehicle for you? They sold out of cars! They didn't keep one for me even though I made a reservation and prepaid for it. What's worse they just shrugged their shoulders and didn't try to resolve the problem. So I reserved a car for April 19,2022. Went to pick the vehicle up they gave us a keep even to the reservation was a 4 door sedan. So I complained they gave us an upgrade still not what we wanted I reserved what I wanted they was short cars not my problem. So I took the car it had dirty windows was not cleaned out at all. Customer service is horrible. Representative at Wilmington airport refused to give me my repaid rental when I would not give her my social security number. Then she tried to charge me $500.00 if I wanted the car.
I purchased a $23,000 2019 Jeep Cherokee and after a month it was in the shop for repairs! Hertz never offered to help pay for anything, which was fine, you can't predict what happens when it leaves the lot. However, It was back in the shop 5x in 2 months and in the 3rd month the engine was shot! I had the car less than 5 months, after THOUSANDS of dollars spent to fix, The engine was $9,000 which the POWERTRAIN Warranty DIDNT COVER!!
