The Half Shell started out as a very small place with a few tables and a bar. A fun little "joint" where you could get oysters, shrimp, hamburgers, and really cold beer. It had the atmosphere of an old Panama City Beach "dive" with walls covered in dollar bills signed by customers. The cooking line was right behind the bar, so your bartender was also the cook. I have always enjoyed my visits to Half Shell. My sons attend Troy University, and a visit with them always includes a trip to Half Shell. Great food, and people.
I am from Gulf Shores and the fried snapper sandwich was recommended by a good fishing buddy. I was skeptical but it was one of The Best I have ever had!!! My son is in school at Troy and we will definetly make that a regular stop when visiting!!👍👍👍👍👍

Love this place to eat—child friendly, service is always done with a smile! No matter what waitress/waiter serves us, they go that extra mile to please us! You need a laid back kind of night, go visit the Half Shell!
My friends and I wanted to have a nice brunch. So went to half shell instantly after we was seated we where already noting that our waitress didn’t want to wait us. She had the rudest attitude ever. She took more than 30 minutes to bring our food and it wasn’t to our liking. The food wasn’t all that really it was very bland and just could to tell they really didn’t care. My oysters were pretty good, but the fried fish and shrimp were not the best. I recommend the oysters.
