Filed my taxes 2 years in a row with them. They made a mistake and filed a request for reimbursement of the fine I got following their program "peace of mind".When they filed the peace of mind request, they forgot to send a page of ******* letter to their claims team (another mistake) and then lost the document itself (another mistake).I called them 12 times, they promised they'd call me back which they didn't and kept telling me to do things that made no sense (call *******, which doesn't have record of past letters, open a... read more
Took my tax file to local H & R Block office on May 10. As of today, May 14, they are not completed. I have tried to call their office but cannot get through. I am out on hold for 25 minutes and then sent to a call center, where I get no help. I have had to drive 10 miles to their ************* office to try to get updates in two occasions and was promised that someone would get back to me. Still waiting for a follow-up call. Worst run organization in the country. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
We've been using HR Block tax preparation software for many years. This year, there was some sort of software glitch on the HR Block website and after completing both our federal and state returns, and paying for them, the software gave us an error message. I wish I would have read these reviews before going-I guess I will add my horror story to the list. I went in recently to have my taxes done, usually I do them myself but had an unusual 2020 and wanted a professional to take a look. The person incorrectly added an amount of money to my income that she should not have causing me to owe 20K in taxes. When I questioned the accuracy she insisted that she was right. If I could give a negative point review I would. My refund was lost along the way after it has been accepted. The customer service is absolute trash. When I called the first five times, my call was immediately ended after I mentioned "tax refund" without ever speaking to an actual representative. I had to lie about why I was calling to get a representative on the phone. The wait time was 1 hour.
This was an incredibly frustrating experience. Like others who have reviewed recently, I too wish I had read these reviews before choosing this company but it wouldn't have mattered much because HR Block put most of the independent tax preparers in DC out of business already leaving very few options: I could have filed by myself or paid premium prices. This was at the *********, ** location and my first and last time with HR Block. I only went here because I moved and had to pay separate state taxes and felt better with professionals. Advice? Dont drop your taxes off at this place. I dropped my taxes off for two weeks because they dont seem to want to do a face to face appointment. Understandable. Customer support is inept. They keep sending you to different departments. I wasted over 3 hours just waiting. No one helped. **** **** with them!!!
My friend recommended that I try using H&R for my taxes this year. A mistake I won't be repeating. I'm giving it two stars because my federal taxes actually went through. My state tax filing was rejected, however. The explanation for rejection offered by the site didn't match with the data on the form. There was a different error that the site wouldn't let me change, just kept sending me in circles.
