Our stay at Fonab Castle was an absolute highlight of our trip. We were fortunate to stay in the penthouse suite, which was stunning — spacious, luxurious, and with incredible views. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond. They were attentive, genuinely friendly, and even provided us with a ride into town, which was such a thoughtful touch. Magical setting, third tier wildly overpriced hotel with service ranging from acceptable to laughable. Has to be reviewed contemplating cost and the relative value is very poor. Average smallish rooms, shower water pressure lacking with all other elements unremarkable. You’re staying in a nice house by a river for the price of a stunning castle. Booked a spa session and I could not have been more disappointed. Changing rooms were badly designed and awkward to use. Facilities were broken and unusable. You have to walk around outside to get to the jacuzzi. I would have had a more luxurious time at the local municipal swimming pool.
