We stayed at Blencathra Field Studies Centre with our A Level Geography group to complete NEA fieldwork focusing on glaciation, and this was a return visit, which speaks volumes in itself. Once again, the experience was outstanding. The accommodation was great. Spacious centre with large dining area, games room, shared lounge. Catering was exceptional. As hospitality managers we can be quite demanding but honestly we enjoyed all the meals. Make your own lunch option was also really good. Chef Jess was amazing and flexible with opening/closing times as we wanted to depart for the hike at 7:30am and some of us returned after 8pm. Generally amazing place to stay near Ullswater/Helvellyn.
SO. i came here with my school. this trip costed £180 per person, and let me just say, this was NOT worth £180 pounds. we arrived on wednesday and got shown to our rooms. i must admit i was quite excited to unpack and get into a comfy bed but that changed very quickly when i officially entered my room. not only was i disappointed by the utter state of the room, the stench took over. i’ve attached pictures of unexplained stains on the floor in my room and on my bed and pillows. i once asked for bottled water as i am an avid b... read more
My third time bringing students to Blencathra. Staff are always very helpful, accommodation and classroom facilities are excellent. The setting is gorgeous and if you get the weather you’ll have a lovely stay.
Friendly staff and good accommodation. Excellent tutors and staff throughout, plus an excellent variety of equipment and resources. A lovely place to conduct fieldwork with students.
