Filed a claim for water damage to half our home, they sent out the field rep who was very helpful. Everything was taken care of to our satisfaction and overall it was a pretty seamless transaction with no noticeable rate hikes since. State Farm's policy rates come in close to U***** and we prefer the personal interaction with an agent when we want and they seem to always have an office just down the road from our home. We have multiple coverage policies through them and their office staff is always prompt with replies to our... read more
After my agent of 35 years retired, my policies were transferred to two different agents. As I wanted my policies to all be with one agent, I called both to consolidate. It has been a two month nightmare to try and get all of my policies with one person. So after two months of trying, and they still are not with one agent I give. I will get another company to take all.
This is the worst insurance company I have been with. I recently switched because they promised the low rates, but I guess you get what you pay for. A couple of days I was involved in an accident. The police report said I was not at fault and I told the State Farm representative that I have dash-cam footage of the accident and can send it to the claims department in case there was even an infinitesimal doubt that I did everything to avoid the collision. They said they are not interested in it and that they have already made ... read more
I was involved in a car accident the beginning of February 2019. State Farm's insured cut me off and slammed into my car. I originally was not going to pursue a claim so I never contacted them. However, after head injuries and consulting my doctor, I wanted to get at least compensated for lost work and doctor bills. I called State Farm and the original Rep was extremely rude and condescending. Immediately, she said, "well we have already established liability and found you at fault"! Umm, wait, what am I missing. I asked how... read more
Couple of years ago I was rear ended by one of their customers. I was asked to bring my vehicle to a State Farm location (4915 S Pulaski Rd., in Chicago) to determine repair cost. Brought my vehicle thinking that it was going to be a bad experience and that they were going to offer pennies compared to what repairs would cost, I was wrong. They gave an estimate within minutes, which I think was very fair, so they cut me a check right away. I took my vehicle to a body shop that I trust and the amount I got was pretty much what... read more
Claim specialist, Michell *****, was rude and insulting and refused to allow me to speak with anyone else after asking three times and requesting a supervisor. She was abusive and has no business speaking with people on a professional level.
My son was car jacked and attempted to shoot out the tires to avoid the truck being stolen. The man trying to steal my son's car drove it into a tree in a ditch. State Farm refused to pay for the repairs caused from the bullets. I was not happy about that but agreed to pay the difference. Once the repairs were complete, I went to pick up the truck and the engine was running very rough. The shop said it was a routine maintenance issue and just needed spark plugs. State Farm authorized the replacement of the spark plugs. This ... read more
STAY FAR AWAY FROM STATE FARM! You've been warned! I've been a State Farm customer for almost 30 years and they are canceling my homeowner's policy, that I've had for 13 years because I've had 4 claims that were all weather related and the total of all claims is approximately $15,600, after I subtract my deductible. I was told by Amanda S****-Underwriter, they are canceling me because I have a high risk of filing more claims in the future. DUH! That's how insurance works! I pay my premiums, and they're suppose to protect me ... read more
I found a less expensive insurance company that covered more for my home. I contacted my agent and told them that I wanted to cancel my policy to please send me the necessary paperwork, they said there was no paperwork we just do it verbally and State Farm will send you something in the mail. Needless to say I never got anything in the mail saying it was canceled. They charged my mortgage company for the insurance policy as well as my new insurance company charged my mortgage company. I contacted State Farm about this and th... read more
