Horrible, no customer service, expensive $1200 a year fee! And you are on hold for at least 90 minutes to speak to anyone. I plan on reporting them for price gouging. Go anywhere else....was with them for 5 years finally transfer all my assets out. Jennifer
I was concerned when reading the negative reviews about service, but I found the service was great. I had an opportunity to invest in a startup with significant gain potential, but it required moving quickly. I had a Roth IRA at ******, and had to cash out of it, open a new Roth IRA at Equity Trust, move the funds from ****** to Equity Trust, the get the investment approved and the funds transferred to the investment company. Equity Trust is THE WORST. We have had self-directed IRAs there for about four years, invested in real estate. Absolutely no customer service from them, even though we are in their "Gold Level", which is a joke. They made a lot of false promises when we opened our accounts-- in particular that we would receive direct attention from their 'Gold Level team'. Equity Trust is one of the best Custodian Company's out there . Great service super educational tools and a great online platform.
Excellent customer service! They helped us achieve our self-directed investment goals and meet a tight year-end deadline on an investment purchase.

This company is unreachable for existing customers. I’ve been left on hold for hours. No one calls back. I’ve emailed with limited responses to my questions. I need to close my account and transfer existing assets to Fidelity. I was told I owe $325 and they will not finish the transfer until this fee is paid. There is no fee posted to my account not have they given any direction on how to pay it except to contact them but NO ONE ANSWERS their phones! Catch 22! . Not sure where this is coming from. Terrible customer service. After many e-mails trying to get someone to respond and resolve an issue with a rollover, I called and asked for a call back. Hours later - got a call and was told I would be routed to another department. I am still on hold 40 min later. This is typical for EI.
This is a great company if you have alternative/unusual investment types that other companies typically don't handle, and you prefer to self-direct your investments.
