We spent nine nights here during a recent trip to The Cotswolds. We selected without much knowledge of the place and ended up picking a fantastic location. This property is unbelievable and we ended up some days not touring but just hanging out around the hotel. Our room was amazing with lots of space. I have travel for over 60 years and this place is one of my favorites. The management/owners of this property has done a lot of things right and I can highly recommend it. It is a great place with vast expanse of walking trails. Breakfast is fantastic with a full western spread. However the service was a let down. Had to remind multiple times for room cleaning and change of towels etc. The beds were a disappointment with a makeshift king bed by joining 2 single beds. That is strange. Overall a great experience.
We first came across this hotel was in 2014, General Manager was friendly and visible. In our recent visit, there is no management, overall service is well below Virtuoso standard, beautiful surroundings without soul. Dinner food quality is good, service staffs are friendly but lack of interest in what they are doing, no leader in the service team. Breakfast was four star.
