Totally bought into the hype when they took over the building once the pub left - but there is always a wait, the food is average and it is very expensive. The only dish worth going for are the Tacos Al Carbon - really tasty. The bar isn't bad - but pretty noisy. Only lot parking is valet and there isn't much street parking. I would go to the Taco Truck on Fair Oaks.
This restaurant is a great place to go with friends for food & margaritas. A personal favorite is the chicken chimichangas. The blue corn tortilla enchiladas are also wonderful! The atmosphere is a bit loud, so it's better for a party or large group. There are also some people who come around playing music - sometimes it's annoying, sometimes it's fun.
El Sabroso Sabroso means delicious in Spanish and that's what you taste if you come here. This restaurant offers a wonderful style of Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price. Some of the dishes remind me of El Torito but others seem to taste very authentic. The chips and salsa are nice and salty (a plus for me) and the drinks of the house are a perfect compliment to the meal. They even give you a little cookie treat at the end of the meal. Fun for the whole family.
Yummy This place is great. I mostly like it because of the chips and salsa. My mom makes really great salsa and the majority of restaurants don't stand up to hers. This place is pretty good, I know it's a chain but don't be fooled. Tasty food too, try the chimichangas or the flautas. MMM Now I'm hungry.
I flunked El Cholo because of their food and their service. I have eaten there four times and think they have had plenty of chances. The last time that I ate there with a friend of mine, the food was disgusting. The Spanish rice was cold and her tamale wasn't cooked. My beef taco was OK, not the greatest. The waitress did nothing to rectify the situation. She just argued with us saying that's what tamales are supposed to taste like. I do not know what the hype is about. They use high-grade tequila to make margaritas, but they are not that great. I cannot recommend anything on the menu.
I do not understand the hype for this place. I had the enchilladas and was not impressed. I thought the food quality added to the parking situation and the average wait were not worth it.
Great service, wonderful food! You have to try their Guacamole, it's a little expensive but the best appetizer on the menu, they will make it fresh at your table.
No longer a favorite I used to love this place. I had been a fan of the one in Santa Monica and was thrilled when they opened one closer to my house. I love their green corn tamales which are seasonal and I always liked their guacamole and margaritas.
