El Sabroso Sabroso means delicious in Spanish and that's what you taste if you come here. This restaurant offers a wonderful style of Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price. Some of the dishes remind me of El Torito but others seem to taste very authentic. The chips and salsa are nice and salty (a plus for me) and the drinks of the house are a perfect compliment to the meal. They even give you a little cookie treat at the end of the meal. Fun for the whole family.
I have always enjoyed El Cholo. I LOVE their margaritas (although they are not as good when you order them by the pitcher) and the chicken chimichangas are so good I haven't even bothered to try anything else. It's not a place to go and have an intense, quiet conversation but it's fun for birthday parties. If you like it a little quieter week nights are nice because it's not as busy.
Extremely popular hang-out - would suggest reservations. The service is good, on average. They seem to care. Prices are a little on the high side but the food is great!
So much promise.... I thought I'd found it at last, the perfect Mexican restaurant. It had style, and I was hoping content and service. But other than the decor, El Cholo was a severe disappointment. The order was taken quite late, and the food, was, a definite so-so, at least compared to the Western location. I had beef fajitas, and the beef was an insult to my tastebuds - it was drowning in oil as well as completely tasteless and chewy/sinewy. The sides were way too generous with the sour cream and cheese and way too light... read more
Good for Family Gatherings Whenever my family flies in they like to go to El Cholo. I highly recommend making reservations. The place is always crowded. The service was great and the food was good too. I'm surprised by the bad reviews, but I have never had a problem with slow service here. Overall the restaurant is very good.
I flunked El Cholo because of their food and their service. I have eaten there four times and think they have had plenty of chances. The last time that I ate there with a friend of mine, the food was disgusting. The Spanish rice was cold and her tamale wasn't cooked. My beef taco was OK, not the greatest. The waitress did nothing to rectify the situation. She just argued with us saying that's what tamales are supposed to taste like. Hey, we may be gringos, but we know what tamales are supposed totaste like. As we left, the m... read more
Yummy This place is great. I mostly like it because of the chips and salsa. My mom makes really great salsa and the majority of restaurants don't stand up to hers. This place is pretty good, I know it's a chain but don't be fooled. Tasty food too, try the chimichangas or the flautas. MMM Now I'm hungry.
I have been here several times and each time I enjoy it more and more. At first I thought the food was overrated, but now I'm beginning to experience the nice flavors of each dish. They do have good homemade chips and they tend to be nice and salty.Try the chimichangas and/or the green chili enchiladas suizas. A nice peach or strawberry margarita always goes nice with a good meal. Skip on dessert, not that great here. Enjoy the warm tortillas, I don't think they're fresh, but still good.
Great restaurant Whenever I have guests in from out of town, this is one of the first restaurants I take them to! I think it's a great taste of how awesome the Mexican food is in southern California (being from the east coast, everything tastes awesome to me, but this place particular). I'm a big fan of their margaritas and definitely for a mean - chicken chimichangas!! Great atmosphere and so much fun if you're going out for a friend's birthday. The chips and salsa even rock!
