I have been living in my house for 6.5 years. I have a smart electric reader and check my energy use every month. I travel a lot with my job and since October my energy **** has doubled. Service stinks!!! Duke Energy was supposed to come to my house (Indian Trail area) yesterday to switch out my meter. They never showed up and never called. I was a hostage in my home because I could not leave. I also cannot turn on my Solar System now because I do not have the meter swapped out. I called Duke yesterday to ask where the tech was, "oh, don't know what happened", " I am sure they will be out tomorrow". I moved in this Apartment in July 1st. I called duke energy to register my new account, at the beginning I provided a wrong address number, I provided ***************** instead of *****************. I found out that I made a mistake of the address at the second day, so I called back to them to change the address, however the person told me I have to make a new account, and cancel the wrong one, I did. 8 months in a row that Duke Energy charges me for others meters that do not belong to my home. It takes me many hours of my time, at least 45 minutes to an hour, to correct their mistake. Each **** brings the same error, meters that do not belong to my address. To mention bills of $900,$300, etc.
I received a card in the mail along with my **** in August 2021 regarding Fixed Billing,. I checked the box and signed the paid post card and sent it to Duke Energy. The first call was in August I am disabled and living with my son and since he is the home owner, I should have discussed it with him first but I didnt, so I called to cancel the following day after I put it in the mail in August, 2021, told them I wanted to cancel and they reluctantly agreed. Duke has replaced three power poles in our community that were tilting and in danger of falling onto a home. This was done over a year ago. The old power poles are still there, and are in danger of damaging the homes in the immediate vicinity. Numerous phone calls and emails have finally been answered. Now they need to do a design study to remove the old poles! A design review was done before they put the poles in. My wife called to turn power off to her parents house, they are 90. The Duke rep associates the call with my wife’s phone number and not the parents address and turns power off to “our” house! I called and was on hold for over an hour and had to hang up! Called back and even though I’m on the acct as a husband for thirty years I don’t have the same rights as my wife who’s name the bill comes in! Duke Energy customer service representatives are not adequately trained. Have spoken to multiple individuals over the past couple of months regarding a refund and each time have received conflicting responses. We have no problem receiving all of Duke Energy's emails for purchasing light bulbs or cost saving incentives, but they can't seem to get an email to me regarding a substantial refund.
