We came into Austin from D.C. for a college visit. It was perfectly located. The service was outstanding and the room was beautiful. I loved the bar and live music after a very long day of sight seeing. We will definitely be back!!!
I have had two experiences here. The first on my wedding night. The talking points were: exceptional drinks at the amazing bar and a beautiful historic lobby and well matched room. My second experience was one that put The Driskill in my personal little special echelon of favorites. My younger sister wanted to stay here for her birthday (last night). History and uniqueness like I've never seen in a hotel before. The cafe is a landmark, the art throughout is beautiful. Just an incredibly unique and historic place. Large rooms, comfy beds, and good service. I'll be back next time if in Austin.

Had drinks there...classy bar. Very tasty cocktails. Pricey for Austin, but if you're from the "big city", not so much. Absolutely gorgeous interior.
We upgraded to a king suite, there was trash on our balcony and some stain on one curtain. There was a half dead rose attached to a lamp shade and for as large as the room was and the distance of the bed from the TV, there should have been a larger TV. Also there was a confusing sign on two large bottles of water. Said complimentary, but at check out, they wanted to charge for them. For the cost of the upgrade, I think they should provide water.
We stopped by the cafe to eat not realizing what a historical landmark it is. What a surprise to see the best of service from a young top notch waiter. The building is beautiful and the food excellent. Coming from New Orleans we know food. You cannot eat there without doing dessert. The chocolate cake was recommended and was unbelievable. The lobby in hotel exquisite to say the least. Thanks for fantastic experience.
I was disappointed to see the lack of respect for the Civil Rights of law abiding citizens. The 30-06 and 30-07 signs have forever tarnished the wonderful memories our stay there back in 2009. I was shocked to see that a Texas establishment such as the Driskill would spit in the face of Texans who chose to be responsible for their security as well as the security of others.
