Dr.Bonvellat done surgery 10/16/14 at Memorial hospital. I have had a herniated disk since 2008 that has progressively gotten worse through the years. I am 38 yr old female Hospice Nurse and started having more problems started 9/29/14 and went to see my pcp who ordered a MRI and referred me to Dr.Bonvellat. I have had a great experience with Dr. Bonvallet. He has been great to talk to, has spent plenty of time with me, is easy to understand and has done a fantastic job diagnosing and treating me. I had a fusion of 2 neck vertebrae and it went great, exactly as he prescribed. I highly recommend him to anyone.
Really enjoyed Dr. Bonvallet. His nurse assisting him was great. The woman running the waiting room was the worst. Left his office feeling quite upset because of her. Had awful social skills. Was really surprised such a professional, well respected place had someone like her in charge of dealing with each patient and pushing them out of the waiting room on the Friday injection clinic. Pray to God I don't have to see her again when I return for my follow up appointment at the Spine Center on Gunbarrel Road.
I allowed Dr. Bonvallet to do surgery on my neck without doing my own research or get a second opinion..that was the worse thing I hve ever done. He is RUDE and says the is the BEST..very wrong. My 3 day stay in the Hospital turned out to be therr weeks and they did not offer to get me up to try to walk. I walked into the Hospital on a walker and have yet to stand alone or walk which I am in a wheelchair. I was in rehab for a 100 days. After a year of pain and being treated and injected in my elbows and having carpel tunnel surgery thru Chattanooga Center for Sports, they ran me thru it all. My internist sent me to see Dr Bonvallet we did the MRI there was all my problems in the neck! Dr Bonvallet did cervical spine surgery with des economy and the graft with the metal brace and from the moment after surgery I can now use my arms pain free. He is a wonderful doctor. Only great things to say about him and his staff.
Dr. Bonvallet is a classic orthopedic surgeon: very sure of himself, brags a bit, and is particular about his hospitals, imaging, etc. After I asked for his professional opinion as to whether or not I needed the surgery, he said yes and very minimal potential of risk/side effects. After the surgery, I followed instructions explicitly - 3 walks a day, no bike riding, physical therapy, etc. Once he said that I had no restrictions, I resumed my light workouts at the YMCA, more walking, some road biking. I’m 33 yrs old. I had a fusion on L4/L5 by another great surgeon almost 2 yrs ago. I fell down this past March & I've been experiencing constant pain. I’ve been told over & over again that I have nerve damage which is causing my pain. I also got the "Best there is" speech. And was told if the fusion didn't work No one in the state would touch me, and I probably would not see anyone out of state either. Of course I smoke, and I am in the process of quitting. For ME not him. But I've already had two failed surgeries and I feel as though I'm being pressured to have another.
