Most over-rated BBQ in LA... ...by far. – I'm a huge fan of BBQ... Western, Eastern, Texas, you name it. "Barbecue" is both a noun and a verb. This place has placards/article posted proclaiming it one of best in the area (and the U.S.). Things mustve gone downhill a lot since then. BBQ Masterpiece – They have the Best BBQ ever. They actually cook the BBQ in a wood pit instead of grilling it. Whenever you go to a BBQ restaurant, check out how they cook the meat. Is it cooked in a barrell?- which is almost the same as grilling at home. Do they grill it like a steak, similar to home as well or do they have a pit. Hogly wogly's has a pit!!! Best brisket around – I love this place. As a former Texan, I love good barbeque and the Dr's beef brisket is some of the best that I've ever tasted. I love the sauce too. The portions are huge so be ready to have some leftovers for the next cople of days.

Great Food Though a Bit Expensive – I grew up in Mt. Pleasant, TX, a speck on the map just north of Tyler. Dr. Hogley Wogley's is defintely authentic bbq. It is not the best I've ever had, but I would rate it in the top three.....and hands down better than anything else I've had in my 5 years in LA. Now, if only the prices were comparable to Texas........

Not Texas BBQ – I originally come from the Tyler, TX area and let me just say this place should change its name immediately. You couldn't find this kind of mediocre BBQ in Tyler, Texas if you tried. The prices are high and the only thing that was reminiscent of real BBQ joints are the baked beans. Like other reviewers I am still trying to find the real thing!

The Best BBQ in the World! – The ribs as they come from the kitchen are pretty darn excellent but once you put the hot BBQ sauce that they put on the table on them they transcend excellence. Both the pork spareribs and the beef ribs are tender with some crispy spots that make things interesting...but oh that sauce! It's highly addicting and it "IS spicy so not for the faint of heart. It leaves you with a nice afterburn in your mouth and a heavenly glow in your tummy. I'm not kidding about the glow...it's what keeps me coming... read more

It's all about the pork ribs! – Forget the beef ribs and chicken, this place is all about the pork spareribs and the brisket. The brisket is amazingly tender and succulent, and the pork ribs are the best ever. Love the beans and slaw, too, but it's all about those ribs and the brisket. The waitresses are great, too!
