That is all I can say, this place has the Best Ribs in California. Stop reading and just go eat there. The drive to the valley is worth it, even in Summer.

Just like Texas! – My husband and I "commute" to Texas for work every so often, and we've tried some GOOOOD BBQ. I'd venture to say that Dr Hogley's is on par with some of the best we've had down there. It has a real down home feel too!

very good beef, ribs etc. Get their sauce b4 you leave. – I got their beef biscuit and my friend go their ribs. The nice thing about this place is its not a upscale claim jumper type restaurant. Hoggly Woggley is much more authentic then that. The reason being is that they are old school, they follow traditions and they have time tested recipes that modern places don't have.

very good – Just like the reviews for many other ethnic, or regional, restaurants -- the scores are very low from the transplants. I have no respect for any transplant who chooses to live in Los Angeles, yet complain about our food. There is no city in the country that can match the quality of so many specialty foods than Los Angeles. New York may be close. That is why so many of these reviews should be ignored. I have live in Texas and this place can compete with their BBQ. Also, their is great atmosphere to the shack of a ... read more

Visit the motherland and get a re-fresher course on Texas BBQ – It would have been wonderful to find a lil place of heaven to remind you of home out here in La La Land - but this is not the place. Perhaps this establishment was started to give the locals here an idea of bbq'd meat just as famous as St. Louis and Memphis? Whatever the reason the owner or whomever is the "Texan" associated with this establishment - he/she/it might want to take a long visit back home and practice! I have never had brisket so tough; by the time ... read more

Dr. Wogly: Quack – I can't believe I drove for even fifteen minutes to try this place. The place has table service, and the lifers there are courteous enough, but just. Seat yourself whereever, I guess. Most menu items are over fifteen dollars, with a handful of sandwiches for $7 and change. The texas hot link sandwich was lacking in heat of both the temperature and spice varieties, though, ironically, it did give me indigestion. The spicy barbecue sauce and wet naps likewise failed to live up to their names, being sweet and... read more

Van Nuys cheap-eats landmark dishes out "Flintstones"-sized slabs of sweet, saucy meat. – In Short Faux wood paneling, dime-store oil paintings and silk plants make this tiny eatery feel like a rec room. A veteran kitchen staff piles platters high with massive portions of brisket, hot links, smoked chicken and secret-marinade beef ribs. Meals come with two sides--tangy baked beans and macaroni salad with chopped celery are favorites. A small selection of classic Southern desserts includes sweet-potato pie and pecan pie a la ... read more

Best BBQ – Ok who cares about atmosphere when it comes to getting messy with bbq. They have the best beef brisket and the portion for the price is crazy. Everything else is good but the brisket is to die for. Service is so so but with food that good who cares. Hole in the wall atmosphere but the food is soooo good who cares. Once you go you'll be hooked.

Great BBQ, Great Service – I'm from Texas, and I'm very picky about BBQ. In fact, I usually say that I don't really care for it, because so much of what is passed off as bar-be-que is at best mediocre. However, Dr. shines. It's not big, they don't take reservations, and they won't seat you until the entire party is there. However, we showed up with a party of 13, and were happy with our seating. Although everything is booths and banquettes, they worked to get us as close together as possible, and we still felt like a unified... read more
