Doctor Kaufman and his staff prepared me well for hip replacement surgery. I checked in to the hospital at 7am and went home that day at 7pm. 2 months later I am playing pickle-ball, riding my bike and walking up and down 8 floors of stairs. I am grateful and highly recommend Dr. David Kaufman and the staff at Maui memorial hospital.
Dr. Kaufman asked relevant questions, and then listened carefully so he could choose the exact right procedure and prosthesis for my new hip, based on MY lifestyle. It was impressive. I was working at my job and fell on Dec. 23,I fractured my left hip and was brought to Maui memorial emergency. I was attended to right away by Dr. Kaufman Orthopedic Surgeon and had Surgery. Dr Kaufman would check on me periodically at the hospital. I had 2 follow up appointments after which were very great. My first visit with Dr. Kaufman was for a left hip replacement surgery. He was very professional, caring, and he went above and beyond my expectations. He explained the process very clearly and educated me as a patient to prepare myself before and after surgery. Dr. Kaufman and his team was always available should I have any questions. Dr. Kaufman is amazing. I had an ankle break with less than 3 weeks away from a planned dream vacation to Tahiti. Dr. Kaufman spent more than an hour with me discussing how I could have an amazing vacation but also continue my active lifestyle post any operation. Just moved to Maui in April this year. As time went on my right knee got worse and worse. Looked for a physician in Orthopedics in Kaiser and found Dr. Kaufman. I read his bio and was very impressed. I made an appt. with him, got my xray and saw that my knee was bone on bone. Listens to patient questions and takes time to explain answers. Knowledgeable and proficient. Has a lot of experience which lends to his expertise. Will spend whatever time is required to make sure patient understands. Surgery was well orchestrated with a plan for steps along for recovery.
Had successful replacement surgery on both sides (7 months apart) and was home the day after surgery. What a difference it made in being able to enjoy walking again. Dr. Kaufman and the staff were excellent and I would highly recommend him.
