I have read some of the reviews, and I don't think they were very fair, to be honest! We went there 12 years ago with the extended family and with my wife's mother, who had started on the rocky road of alzheimer's realising it was probably her last chance also to visit relatives whilst she'd still remember who they were we found the estate which had the old headmasters house which was ideal for a large party. Self catering house, lovely view and very quiet. Most activities will need to drive to. Host lovely and friendly was a good base for our big party. Lots of space for children to paly outdoors. Supermarket a long drive but was able to book delivery online prior to attending.
