Mission Our Mission Is To Speak For The Animals History The Coconino Humane Association was founded in 1955 by a group of concerned and dedicated people who felt there needed to be a change in the way animals were being treated in our community. The shelter was built with donations from businesses, service organizations, and a few very dedicated individuals. The Forest Service leased five acres to the Humane Shelter, located in the area where Interstate 40 and Butler Avenue now intersect. Even with these contributions, it to... read more

I rescued my Coon Hound/Beagle here and it couldn’t have been a better match! Thanks for all the help! She’s the most loyal dog I’ve ever owned.
This organization has done so much for our community 🌹 Thank you. My sweet Lucy has been with us for a year and doing great 🐶
save a life, they are wonderful people and loving workers
This is such an amazing group of people who truly care for animals . I love seeing their adoption updates!! So many critters finding loving homes warms my heart ❤️
We love you Coconino! Beside Ark you are the only place we would adopt from. We have a kitty Negra and a dog Nacho that we adopted from you in 2015 and 2016. We really love all the things you do for animals! Thank you for being such a big community supporter and keeping animals in their homes!

Volunteers are always needed along with food and other essential items. Stop complaining and ask “How can I help”.
They have been caught lying on several occasions. They drag around sick dogs all over the community in hopes to adopt them out quickly, without a care of infecting other dogs. Their prices to adopt are ridiculously high, especially considering the amount in vet bills you will pay because the adopted dog is so sick, and they will infect your dogs at home too. Coconino Humane Association is very aware of this, as they have started offering a "free trial of pet insurance for one month", which that offer is also a scam and not u... read more
We love the Coconino Humane Society! My boyfriend and I adopted a 3 month old cattle dog/shepherd mix from there, cheap and hassle free. He was neutered, microchipped, and up to date with his puppy shots. We were stuck between a few dogs, but the helpful volunteers helped us narrow down our choices for the dog to fit our life style. Additionally, they were very knowledgeable on all of the dogs there and we couldn’t have done it without them! Ace has evolved into the most loving and loyal pup, and is living his best life in t... read more
