Growing up in New Orleans and being raised in an Italian/Cajun French family, my appreciation for food runs deep. One meal can change a persons outlook on food and I promise you that is the experience you will have at Chef and the Farmer. I thank you, Vivian Howard (and your staff), for one of the best experiences of my life. They say one person can change the world and Vivian has certainly changed this corner of the world. Well done.

Joey was an excellent server for our first visit in July and then had the pleasure of having him again last night at the very same table! The ribeye, shrimp and grits and pasta were excellent. The red velvet cake, ricotta doughnuts and brownie pudding were amazing. Getting to meet Vivian again at the boiler room while having lunch was a wonderful surprise too! Highly recommend the mother earth motor lodge to spend the night after dining, it was spotless, remodeled and the staff was wonderful! Love Kinston NC!

My husband and I came Saturday night to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary! This is our second trip to Chef & the Farmer! We came a few minutes early an had a nice cocktail and visited with another customer who was visiting a second time as well. We were seated and the meal experience began! We had Flash Fried Collards, Beef Belly Skewers "they were to die for ", and the Flounder which was awesome! Thanks for another wonderful dining experience. We will travel from Martinsville, Va again!

Their wine list is solid gold. I prefer to try many things vs just an entree. So we shared a few different items & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, appreciating the originality all the while.

Dec 11, 2017 was our 2nd trip to Chef & the Farmer. First was Dec 2016. Thinking this will become a tradition for us to celebrate our anniversary & my birthday. Last year's food was great but this year's choices blew them out of the water. We started with the Cheese ball with apple preserves & homemade crackers. I did not want to share!!
