This company charges me late fees even if my account is current and is on autopay. Customer Service of this company is extremely rude. I will be looking for new service elsewhere.
Business Response:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You were charged a late fee when your auto pay was declined due to NSF (non-sufficient funds). As a one-time goodwill gesture, we will waive the late fee. A supervisor left you a message if you would like to discuss further. Thanks, Champion Energy

I paid Champion Energy early termination fee and requested receipt called the company who handles this for them and nothing. I just wanted my receipt and never deal with the crooks at Champion. Why do I have to deal with a second party to get Champion to do the right thing. Sending complaint to Gov Abbott maybe he can get something done
Business Response:

Karen, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We recently responded to your other complaint explaining what occurred. We sincerely apologize for the delay you experienced in receiving a copy of the letter from our collections agency. We've taken corrective actions with the agency to make sure they improve processes and training. The letter was suppose to be system generated and mailed, like the agent indicated. That process failed and it was not discovered until we investigated further. Your letter is being mailed as of 7/28/2022 showing the the debt was settled. Again, we appreciate your patience while we looked into what happened and correct this for you. Please reach out to feedback@champion.energy if you do not receive the letter by next week (allowing for USPS delivery time).

My electric bill went from $200 to $400 when my contract ran out. The manager at customer service was intimidating. I have not received my $350 deposit back and the new contract offer was $.07 more than my expired contract and I unhappy with my service, to say the least. I currently have no contract and I am shopping around.
Business Response:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please send your service address or account number to feedback@champion.energy so we may look into the issue of your deposit refund. Energy rates have steadily increased since October of last year. You are not alone in feeling the pain of historically high prices. We tried to email and call all our customers out of contract and paying higher rates to discuss options to lock-in at a fixed lower rate to avoid high variable rates that change month-to-month based on market prices.

I called Champion Energy four times last year to early terminate the service. They gave me wrong information. The person on the phone was rude and said you cannot early terminate as you have five year contract. Even if you terminate you will be responsible for whole five years. We will still bill you. I could not understand this and got confused. Recently I did some research with different companies and found out that Cirro energy has no early termination fees and some other companies only charge for three months fees. I was given wrong advice everything time I called them and I feel this was extremely unprofessional on their side. I am not happy with this company for high Billings and unprofessional lying. Thanks
Business Response:

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is a common practice with many REPs (retail electric providers) and allowed by the PUC (public utility commission) to assess an early termination fee if a customer switches service to a new provider before the end of the contract term. You are under contract with Champion Energy until June 2024. Please reference the response provided in 2021 to your original complaint, which stated: The Customer Protection Division has determined Champion acted consistently with Substantive Rule §25.475 General Retail Electric Provider Requirements and Information Disclosures to Residential and Small Commercial Customers. The company has billed the account in accordance with the established terms of service and the usage reported by the transmission and distribution company. If you'd like to discuss further please call our customer care at (877) 653-5090 or email feedback@champion.energy

They did fantastic for 2 years. But they double billed my auto pay set up recently. It didn't show up in the bill and the next bill showed a credit for the over bill amount. I logged in to see I had a past due amount on the website but none of the bills reflected I was late or had any overdue amount. I called to see what was going on. The CSR was very pleasant but she couldn't figure it out and said she would escalate it. A week went by and I heard nothing until I got a threat to disconnect notice. So I called again CSR was helpful and we figured out that they had billed me twice but issued a credit to my credit card and gave me a credit on the bill (my Credit card did not reflect this, but I was billed the correct amount). So they made a billing mistake, didn't reflect it in their bill statements, never contacted or informed me of what was going on, and then sent me a disconnect notice! So working with the CSR it was apparent that a bill mistake occurred on their end and I owed them, so I paid it on the spot. But I wanted to discuss this with a manager. A few days later a manager calls during work hours, leaves a message that all is taken care of but doesn't leave a call back number. So the next bill shows a late fee for the billing mistake they made! Another call, CSR was nice but now I want to speak to a manager. She says none are available and one will return call in 2 hrs. Three hrs later I'm calling back. CSR was very helpful and actually gave me his direct line to call him back. He cleared the late fee. But I still want to speak to a manager. He informed me that he reached out and they said it would be 24-48 hours before a manager would be able to call back. Seriously! When every thing is great they are a decent company. But there management is lacking in customer service skills! I'm now investigating my alternatives. Tried to leave 0 stars but it won't let me.

Not only did they not cancel my contract on time when I called over 2 months ago, they never refunded me any of my money that I lost because I wasn't at the apartment. When I called over 10 times with them and requested the help of a manger, nothing got done. In the end, when they finally managed to cancel my contract (2 months AFTER my first call to cancel) they billed me for an additional ENTIRE MONTH. Imagine the disrespect this company has shown me, when I worked so hard with them to call in early and get everything handled they showed me incompetence and clear disregard of my property and health. We are going through a pandemic and this company essentially tried to siphon as much money from me as possible. Not to mention if you give them your deposit, they will hold it FOR OVER A YEAR AFTER(!!!) your contract ends. What even is this? Nowhere did it say that when I signed up. Buyers beware, these people don't have your back.

After reading a few bad reviews wanted to defend a bit this company. 7 years ago I switched from TXU and never was sorry about it. Yes, they were a bit late with bills after that winter storm, but mine bill was reasonable - exactly amount I was expecting. I was approached by the other companies representatives (TXU at my new home), and after looking at my bill from Champion and calculating their charges, they told me they couldn't beat it. I never had problems with this company. I am not happy free nights price went away, because I like it so much, but ohh well. I consider this is good company - 7 years customer.

Will not refund an overpayment error of over $1600 for 2-3 weeks ! I need that money now to pay other bills!
Business Response:

Hi Pete, We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We received confirmation from our Accounting Team that the check refund for the amount of $1,672.11 was approved and issued on 6/17. Our records show that the funds were received and cashed out on 6/21, and since then your account no longer has an overcharge. If you have any additional questions in regards to this concern or anything else we can assist with, please do not hesitate to contact us at feedback@champion.energy or call (877) 653-5090. Sincerely, Champion Energy Services

Do not use this company. They will lie to try and lock you in to an unwanted contract. We spoke with Veronica because our current plan at our apartment is ending. We are in the process of purchasing our first home and will not be moving for about a month. We also have not yet figured out what we are doing for our utilities yet. We called and explicitly told her “We want to change to a monthly plan. She told us that they don’t do that and she can only sign us up for a 1, 2, or 3 year plan and was going on about how we can just transfer our services over to the new place so it’s no big deal. In the mean time, while my s.o. Is on the phone with her, I am looking them up online only to find out that they do in fact have a monthly plan and she had lied to us. I mentioned the plan by name and she started to get nervous and backtrack when I asked to speak with a supervisor, saying “oh well you can do month to month but it is more expensive”. While on hold, she pushed our 12 month contract through anyways. We then were put on the phone with her supervisor, who was also apparently named Veronica (it was not the same person because the voices were different). Not entirely sure she was actually a supervisor but she resolved our issue and signed us up for the month to month plan. However, she did not apologize once for the way that we were treated after using them for years. I’m sorry, but lying and deceiving your customers to lock them into contracts that they do not want is not the correct ones way to do business. We absolutely will not be using this company at our new home and neither should anyone reading this.
