Austin Clinic is terrible. Waited for over 45 minutes and still didn't see primary care provider, finally got fed up and left. 2 months for an appointment to pick up hearing aids, administration completely lied to Senator Cruz about my complaints and made up times they allegedly called me for appointments. Even the doctors admit the phone system doesn't work. Time for a major overhaul here.
Great service in getting new hearing aids. Use my TRICARE at home in College Station... Only use VA for service-connected.
I've Always Gotten GREAT Care!!!
I got there to see my doctor
25 years ago, Temple VA was horrible, then they got an Administrator from Albuquerque and he cleaned up the place. Unfortunately he's been gone for about 10 years now and the current "Director" is better hid than Jimmy Hoffa! I've tried to speak with her, have written letters, requested help, it's been over 3 weeks since the last letter, still no response! Seems she has more important things to do than to see to the Veterans problems...what?....I sure don't know!
Pretty much the worst "health care" they could offer... I've been fighting for over a year to have a brain malformation that causes severe symptoms, to include increased spinal fluid around the brain, to be addressed. Not only did they insist nothing was wrong with me, but when a civilian doctor diagnosed me using the exact mri images the VA had access to for 6+ months, they've continued dragging their feet in treating it. I can't get a call back from the social work department. Really that hospital could burn down and I'd b... read more
I have been a patient of Central Texas VA Health Care System since 1998., Over all, the quality has been very good to horrible. The consistent problem throughout all these years has been getting them to answer the phone. Today, I tried to talk to someone about a medication I was prescribed. After being on hold with various extensions for 45 minutes, I gave up. I think they are solving the veterans waiting time problems by NOT answering the phone. And no one really cares. That is a shame. It is a systemic problem.
I just want to give a shout out to the Temple, TX VA Hospital. They did emergency work on my tooth abscess on a Sunday afternoon last year and I was not even a regular patient. Set me up for about a dozen appointments last year for periodontal disease. Last week, on a Friday afternoon, I called to see a primary doctor to get a referral for a dermatologist and they scheduled me in on the next day, a Saturday. Not sure about other cities but Temple VA has their act together!!
I know many people have had bad experiences with the VA, but the Central Texas VA Health Care System has been phenomenal to me throughout my pregnancy. They call and check on me every other month and when they found out I have gestational diabetes, they scheduled me a consult with a dietitian within days. I am very appreciative.
