Arrived beforehand for my appointment with Dr Tuttle and Dr. Vaughn of ENT at Central Texas VA Health Care System. Checked right in and saw nurse for vitals right away. Dr. Vaughn was very thorough in his assessment of the problems and explained everything crystal clear, as did Dr. Tuttle (chief of ENT) after his consultation with Dr. Vaughn. Awesome care from good folks! In and out of the ER in a little over two hours. This included x-rays
I have been using the VA Healthcare System for the past 20 years. Lord knows it is a rough system to get used to. Most of it is about communication and understanding .. Things are getting better. I think we finally came up a pain management system whinh will give better quality of life. I have to do my part to ensure success. The nurse was awesome. The ER doctors were very imformative. Great job guys.
I was so impressed with the reception / assistance by Doctor Hersey that I wrote an actual snail mail letter to the director.
Personally, I've had both good and bad experiences at CTVAHCS, as a veteran and patient. Would say that they could provide a bit more for veterans and their caregivers, while at appointments... Waiting for hours, while stuck in the waiting area without WiFi, and stuck on a barely audible TV with no option to change the channels, or volume stinks. Even the Austin VA Clinic has WiFi...
Several of us have been waiting in ER for 4+ hours and have yet to be seen. I feel terrible for these poor, sick elderly people.
