Everything here says come on in and relax. Green plaid carpeting, dark wood furniture, potted plants and comfortable booths make this the place to come home to. Thick, juicy steaks, surf and turf (known here as "Tide & Tundra"), and lamb and pork chops are the standard fare. Baked Brie with Raspberry Coulis and Toasted Almonds is about as fancy as it gets. If you bide your time just waiting for dessert, the Mile-High Chocolate Suicide Cake for two does not disappoint. After dinner, enjoy a nightcap in the cigar-friendly Tave... read more

#9? Have you lost your taste buds? – The Chop House has by far the best steak in town! The food, dessert, wine selection, cigar selection, beverages, not to mention the fantastic service is by far the most consistent of any of the Restaurants listed. I'll say that the other restaurants have decent food, but for the best steak and the best ambience around, you just cannot possibly beat Capital City Chop House! Making you feel special is their specialty. #9? You're out of your mind! I've never had a better meal.
Allways come back – Whenever I'm in the area, I make the trip over to the Capitol City Chop House. An associate of mine suggested it the first time I flew into RDU, so I gave it a try. The Tuna appetizer is a must have, the Wasabi will definitally light you up. The steaks are great, I've never tried anything else. Sure it's pricy, but IMO, the steaks are better than Sullivan's or Ruth's Chris. Morton's is another story....
BIG Disappointment – Overall, for the price, we would have expected better service. We all had to ask for refills, our server was attentive upon our request but did not initiate service herself. She also recommended the double-stuffed potato...it turned out to be dry and pasty. My friend's she-crab soup was luke-warm. I will say that the filet was done right, but I could have gotten a better meal somewhere else. I also second-guessed whether or not they put any vodka in my bloody mary...I honestly could not taste it. The ent... read more
Best steak in the Triangle – I dined at the Chop House for a rehersal dinner before a wedding. I highly recommend it for any special occasion.
Great Meat! Needs Seats! Why Salad? – First time at the Chophouse Jan 2003. No reservations. Seated promptly at 6:30PM(Fri) Found the meat (Filet) to be the amoung best I have had at any place. All other items were of equal quality. I do wonder why a place of this quality would still have a salad bar??? The wait staff was good, but under par for this restaurant. Better timing and attentiveness are required. The seating is a bit cramped for most carnivores. But I would go back again for the food! The Chef(s) are great!
My favorite hangout – I stop here for dinner whenever I'm in the RTP area. The food is great and the service is outstanding.
Excellent – My meal was excellent (chilean sea bass-- highly recommended). The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, the service was excellent. Even the price was comparable similar establishments (Angus Barn, Fins, Ruth Chris, etc., Prime Only, etc.). One final note. I've seen several folks compare Capital City to the Angus Barn. For my money, Capital City is far superior. I have been to the Angus Barn a handful of times over the span of six or seven years. None of my visits were distinguished in any way. The food wasn't... read more
Believe it's a 10 – I went there for dinner after my college graduation. We had a reservation for 9 for 8 pm, but the people sitting at our table did not want to leave. Even though we kept asking the hostess about our table she was always extremely polite. The table had finished eating at 7:45 and were just talking, so eventually one of the managers had to ask them to leave. Waiting was very aggravating at the time. We finally sat down at 8:30 at one of the nicest tables in the restaurant. Not only was the service incredible... read more
UMMM SO GOOD ! – My wife and I used to travel to Greensboro to Gate City Chop House for this kind of food and service so we were very pleased when Capitol city was opened. I recomend the cajun seared beef tips w/orange marnier sauce for an appitizer ummm. The service and especially the presentation of entrees make each visit a delight.
