Everything here says come on in and relax. Green plaid carpeting, dark wood furniture, potted plants and comfortable booths make this the place to come home to. Thick, juicy steaks, surf and turf (known here as "Tide & Tundra"), and lamb and pork chops are the standard fare. Baked Brie with Raspberry Coulis and Toasted Almonds is about as fancy as it gets. Excellent Food – My husband and myself met friends there for dinner with a 3 year old child two weeks ago. I have been there several times in the past and have always been impressed with the food. It is always top notch. Our waiter was extremely attentive and kept our drinks full as well as got items from the salad bar for our friends child to munch on. Won't be back. – Wait staff could have cared less that we were there, we didn't have anyone ask us what we wanted to drink for quite some time, our food came out after a very long wait, and actually, everything was either average or below average. I can't believe how different some of these reviews are. I WISH I could say I had a great experience, but I didn't. Nor did the people we were dining with. The waiter frankly was borderline rude Not worth the hassle.
LESS than adequate. – for the price, this place came up really short. Our server could not have cared less about presentation. the salad bar was a joke. one of our party's prime rib came VERY undercooked. The mozarella and tomato were old and the cabernet mushrooms had obviously been just sitting all night. The ribeye was simply OK...dittio for the prime rib...but for $28, you would expect more than a steak from winn-dixie. Good for lunch – I definitely recommend the Capital City Chop House for lunch. The prices at lunch are very reasonable, considering the fact that you're getting dinner-sized portions and quality ingredients. You can eat here for about $15 a person including the tip (if you don't get the filet). We had an appetizer and desserts, and it was still less than $25 a person. Outstanding meal !! – Visited on 6/26/04. Our server, Mary Lou, gave us a tour of the menu and proceeded to take exquisite care of our part of 4. Salads were fresh, huge, and delicious. Strip steak and salmon entrees were superb; cooked exactly as ordered. Cheesecake was cream style and quite good. Portions were larger than expected; food was very tasty and well presented; service was excellent. Am looking forward to our next visit.
Questionable!!! – Ordered the herb grilled chicken breast, it came almost 20 mins later and tasted and smelled like...FISH!!! Called the manager who agreed and I asked for the steak which was excellent, my husband had ordered it as well, and it was really good. Service was very slow, however I was surprised they did not offer to comp at least my entree since I had their fishy chicken and it was quite traumatic. Would not go back there again...
Totally Disappointed – With a 9.2 rating, we expected good food, good service and an overall satisfying experience. We were very disappointed at the flavorless food, pitiful salads, and horrible service. My steak was supposed to be medium well, but it was charred well done, and they first cooked my boyfriend the wrong size steak.
