Everything here says come on in and relax. Green plaid carpeting, dark wood furniture, potted plants and comfortable booths make this the place to come home to. Thick, juicy steaks, surf and turf (known here as "Tide & Tundra"), and lamb and pork chops are the standard fare. Baked Brie with Raspberry Coulis and Toasted Almonds is about as fancy as it gets. If you bide your time just waiting for dessert, the Mile-High Chocolate Suicide Cake for two does not disappoint. After dinner, enjoy a nightcap in the cigar-friendly Tave... read more

Great Food and Enjoyable Evening – The whole clan (11) celebrated a special family member birthday. The waiter was patient, helpful and very accomodating. The food was great and the portions are plenty. The entire evening was very enjoyable for the whole group. Glad we chose this place for the special occasion!
Steaks are Great -- Watch out for the Sashimi Tuna! – I come here often when travelling and usually stick to the steaks -- a bit pricey, but generall delicious. Last trip I tried the sashimi tuna appetizer. The tuna was bright fluorescent red -- and the only way tuna gets like that is fake carbon monoxide treatment. This is such a dangerous way to process tuna it is illegal in Japan! (the tuna can be totally off, and it hides the bad tuna from the customer). Bad move Chop House -- get real tuna!
The food that was cooked correctly was excellent. The service was not too bad. The price.......a little high. – Well my parents were in town and wanted to try a NC steakhouse. I gave them 3 options, sullivans, ruths chris and chop house. They picked chop house. We ordered a seafood sampler app and it was decent in size for the price. We ordered2 different steaks and lamb chops. All were asked to be med-med well. My steak came out perfect. My dads and moms were bloody rare. I thought bloody rare was illegal in NC? I can't get... read more
Definitely one of the top dining experiences in the Raleigh area. – Excellent venue for a quiet, succulent dinner. Service is excellent. Steaks were excellent. The Oyster salad is in and of itself worth the visit. High dollar, but if the prices do not bother you too badly, this is a definite place to go in Raleigh. It's exactly what we would expect a chop house to be.
Come for the food, go somewhere else for the service! – I won't give it one star, since the food at the Chop House is AMAZING. My husband and I have dined here four times in the last year, and each time the meal was well worth the $80 tab. However, the service was absolutely appalling... at each meal. The waitstaff couldn't care less about you, and are often rude. They must pay their waitstaff well, because they're obviously not into earning good tips. One waiter argued with me when I observed that something was amiss with on... read more
25th Wedding anniversary – After 25 years of marriage I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my wife. I made reservations at the new Chop House in Cary. (Well in advance) I explained several times that it was my 25th and requested a nice table and a little out of the way. I was trying to support our local restaurants. We arrived and were taken immediately to our table.. In the bar staring at sports center. We asked for another table and was promptly taken outside next to a family of four with two young children who weren't exa... read more
Wow... – I am a fan of all things meat and I have to say, this place does it right. I had the 10 ounce filet, and it was so tender I didn't even need the steak knife I was given. The decor is fancy schmancy, like a country club or whatnot, but I didn't feel out of place in my less than formal attire. The service was great, our server explained everything in enough detail to inform us but not bore us. He asked us if we wanted water, which I thought was great because of the drought. It was a little pricey, but well worth it, a... read more
Worth saving up for – Steak that you barely need a knife for and the Filet Oscar is out of this world. When you order a rare steak, you get a rare steak. The service is somewhat formal but not at all cold. The caprese salad, (fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil ), starter is huge, don't order it for just yourself and hope to finish your meal. I honestly prefer this to the Angus Barn.
Best steak – The Chop House has the best steak I've ever tasted. I've been there twice. When we sat in the back dining area, the service was good. When we sat in the bar area, our server was not very attentive. Be prepared to stay for a couple hours and spend at least $50/person (including drinks). The experience will be well worth it.
