Superbly located on the shore, this is the right place to stay if you want to be in a dream. Outstanding!
The location, waterfront views and history of the place cant be beat. The grounds are also maintained magnificent. Some of the largest, oldest trees Ive ever seen on the property. The food was also good. The interior does need a refreshing. If nothing else, just the carpet. Personally, I don't like carpet in any hotel as they are impossible to keep truly clean. Hardwood floors would make a huge positive difference here.
I did give this 3 stars until I felt so sick the night after eating here. Something definitely not correct and I do now believe they are giving people left overs from other guests as per my message below. Had afternoon tea and it was ok! colleague got annoyed when I ask for something to be changed. Scones were hard and reheated! jam was jelly from a jar and two sandwich fingers had slightly hard bread which probably means it was someone else’s left overs or made earlier that day. We loved it. Beautiful house, grounds and views over the firth, quiet location close to Inverness. I hardly ever sleep well in hotels and this was a welcome exception. Delicious breakfast, high tea and friendly, attentive staff.
