I had a door to door Salesman come by (Chris) and talk to me about going solar and I was very interested. I read some of the reviews online and got a little skeptical but wanted to follow through with the next step. Jeff called me to confirm the appointment and we chatted for a while about what the overall costs would look like. He was very honest and laid out everything including costs and financing. I decided that at this time, it would not make sense for me and my family to go solar; but having all the information about w... read more
My experience was very positive. Talking with the installers was very helpful. They made sure that I understood the process and the working of the equipment.
Unethical Sales Practice - We had a salesperson call to our door today claiming to be from Rocky Mountain Power and wanting to talk about Net-metering. The person had no ID and had a shady disposition. We called the police who advised us later that the salesperson actually worked for Brio and did not have a business license. Claiming to be from Rocky Mountain Power when not is unethical. What would have happened if we granted access to out home? I’m glad we called the police and learned true identity so we can report to BBB.
The door salesman was very nice and got me intrigued. I met with the first salesman who showed up with no business cards. I had to provide him with a piece of paper to write it down on. They showed a convincing proposal energy savings and $ but when i asked for a copy of the proposal he said it was against corporate policy. What??? He also came empty handed with no productive literature or brochures. I never heard from him again. A month later i hit up the door salesman again. He sent over a new salesman. Same thing as the f... read more
Business response:
I apologize that our sales representatives let you down. We'd love to email over that proposal and send you additional material if you'd like. Where can we send it? Please contact us at the office (801) 783-5959.
Door salesman ignored my No Soliciting sign and misrepresented himself as working in conjunction with Xcel Energy. He had no documents or info about his company. He wanted to get my utility info and wanted to schedule a time to come back. Besides never doing business with disrespectful companies, why would I trust anyone who has no evidence of who they represent, especially when they are obviously lying.
Business response:
We apologize about this. We will conduct more training for our door to door salesmen.
Everything started out great with a door to door salesman. We were hesitant but there were a lot of things that sounded good to us so we decided to move forward. We were told we would have American made panels installed, they would take care of all of the paperwork for taxes, would be cheaper than our current electrical bill, etc. We also financed a new roof through them since it needed to be replaced and that it would also qualify for a tax rebate. They finally come to install the panels after getting a new roof. Took longe... read more
I did not get installed by this company, but please BE AWARE. They will hype up there production numbers. Please compare your production numbers to pwatt.nrel.gov. This is a free website from the National Bureau of Energy that tells you what specific size solar system will produce in the specific geographical region. In Northern Utah there numbers assume you are in Southern Utah or Arizona.
Business response:
We as a company use PVwatt as our calculator to accurately portray solar energy production. We, in fact, prefer to be on the more conservative side for our proposals for solar offset. We do offer an installation of a smart thermostat and LED light bulbs. Each of these additions should lower energy usage by 10 percent, therefore the total clean energy offset will be 20% higher than the pure solar energy offset. As far as I can see, this is the only reason for the discrepancy in our numbers from the PVwatt calculator.
I never take the time to leave a review but in this case I felt it necessary to do so. Our experience started with a salesperson Scotty coming to our property and going over all the deductions and refunds we would have on our taxes. We were presented a price (around 90k) for all 4 of our apartment units. We qualified for 63k and 15 minutes later the price was now 63k. I was shocked that they originally tried to mark up everything that much that they had the room to go from 90k to 63k without batting an eye. I should have sto... read more
High pressure pushy salesman - won't take no for an answer! This is official notice that your company, Brio Energy, and your salesman are in direct violation of Utah Code Chapter 5.15 RESIDENTIAL SOLICITATION - 5.15.180 Duties of solicitors. This is the second time they have harassed me after politely being told no thank you. My 'No Soliciting' sign is in plain site and the salesman admitted to seeing it but kept on talking, saying it doesn't apply to him. Utah Code - 5.15.210 Penalties. Any person who violates any term or... read more
