The tavern that rose from two fires to be the oldest restaurant in all of the town, is worth going to see based on History alone. The food, too, is a delicious range of traditional, home-cooked fare, made from scratch. The buffet menu offers a different variety of dishes each day and the numerous pies for dessert are a truly mouthwatering end to the meal. There is an event hall that seats up to 150 people. You can also pick up a couple of souvenirs to remember the trip from the small shop before you leave.

Ran over from our trip to Galena because it was so close! Fantastic food, atmosphere, and the owner is a gem! We will be back!

A great place to go on Thaanksgiving Day when other family/friends have celebrations on other days. Crowded, but they do a great job!

Nice place for a meal and especially so because the owner(s) will greet you and make certain you leave well fed (and glad to have stopped).
We recently had the opportunity to visit Brietbach's, and couldn't be happier with the service and attention we received. To begin with my 93year old father in law that is a WWII veteran was honored by Mike and his patrons and until we paid our tab we didn't realize that they had comped us for his meal. It doesn't matter if they know you or not, they always treat you like family Wint Barth Independence, Iowa
Best food in Iowa and Mike (owner) is so awesome! Every time I've gone he's there working or pacing the floor interacting with customers, always a smile.
