We stayed at the Brae Hotel as part of our Hidden Hebrides walking holiday. We're from the US, are frequent travelers and we accept that rooms are different from the US when traveling. We basically ate and slept at the hotel as we were out and hiking all day every day of our five night stay. Our room was adequate and had plenty of space for dealing with our wet clothing and gear. Value is hard to find on Shetland, I get that and accept it. But our ‘superior double’ had a bed I wouldn’t offer my guests at home, very cheap mattress and outdated in decor and style. What was good was the quality of the food, very standard menu, but clearly made to come out quickly and tasty. Service was also good, and the breakfast crew was excellent and very efficient whilst serving good hot breakfasts. Value was there as well.
