Bouley ships its Garbage to Danube, next door – if you want your napkin folded and refolded for you, then you should apparently not go to bouley. i always bring my mommy with me when i go to bouley so that she can fold my napkins for me. she accepts the deal because she gets the some of the most outstanding food in the world. and by the way, the wine guy, whatever you call it, is my favorite in the city as he remembers me everytime and always puts me into an incredible wine. i love the red room. THANK GOD THEY DON't FOLD MY ... read more
it's good, but missing all the pieces to be spectacular – chef bouley has been a fixture in new york for years. after 9-11, he shut down for a while, but now back with bouley at 120 west broadway. it claims to be french, but i think it's not as traditional. they have sushi and fusion type dishes. food was decent, and service was ok. for new york standards, i guess $150 per person with a bottle of wine is not that bad. for the expectations of spending that $, i was hoping for better service and something to wow about. all in ... read more
Remarkable food, unremarkable service – My wife and I recently had dinner here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and the Bouley dining room certainly is conducive to a memorable and romantic evening. Of all the restaurants that we have dined at I cannot think of any that I could say offered more wonderful cuisine. The duck entree was perhaps the best thing I have had in any restaurant. Rating Bouley for the food alone I would be mean to give anything less than a 9. However, despite the unforgettable food, the dining experience... read more
Amazing – What a meal I had here... outstanding. Pricey but worth every penny. I washed it all down w/ a Gerwurtzaminer... yum!
Excellent! – I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was absolutely awesome! The service was impeccable, the wine list extraordinary, the food exquisite, and the atmosphere was perfect. Bouley is fine dining at its best and I can't wait to go back!
Terrible service, average food and old decor – Bouley is not worth your money. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and was so disappointed in the service, food and decor. The waiter was unattentive and quite snobby. He didn't offer any suggestions on food or wine pairings. Once the food arrived, the presentation and taste was boring and uninnovative. It is not a place for any celebratory milestones. Take an apple when you leave because you will still be starving!
PERFECT!!! – This could have been one of the very best dinner of my entire life... Service was impeccable, the restaurant was beautiful (the entryway smells of country apples, which fill the wooden structure on the walls), and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the tasting menu (which is a MUST), and everything was fantastic. The phyllo crusted shrimp and seafood starting dish was superb with a basil-infused sauce, the salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious, the lobster was outstanding, the frozen yogurt with blueberry a... read more
good fine dining – I've heard a lot about this place and I was moderately impressed. Service was good, but nothing special. Food was also good, but nothing special. Though I do think that the desserts were excellent. If you can afford to eat at fancy places like this often, then I recommend it. But if you do it once in a while, there is a lot better fine dining in NY.
Night of the Living Dead – We went to Bouley for my Birthday, and the overall experience was simply so so. First, the average age of the diners must be in their 70s, and several looked like they were going to do a face plant in their fish. Return from Chiang Mai should have been called Return to Kitchen. No joke, the jelly like ensemble must have been prepared a week in advance, and the so called lobster was essentially non-existent. The black sea bass with encrusted scallops was not only original, it was divine. I highly re... read more
