don't waste your money – I had to return my steak 3 times before it was cooked the way I'd asked for it to be done. Also, my table was comprised of 5 women and the service we receieved was condescending.
always good service – Bouley does have great food - it's one of those 'I'm on the expense account and need to wine and dine someone' type places. I don't think I'd ever go there if this wasn't the situation. The price is expensive enough to make your guest feel like they're really getting something and the food is quite good. I've always had good service when I've been there. Sometime the bill comes a little slow, but the food and drinks are usually right there when you need them.
Overpriced and incompetent service (even ther french are more friendly) – My husband selected this restaurant as a special surprise for my birthday. We paid $350 without tip. The Tasting Menu choice was better than the selection of foie gras as appetizer and pig as main course (a tiny square of food for $44). There were at least 6 waiters in black suits and several others, who served the food and water. The "men in black" were not able to answer any question competently and they were arrogant too. The only two persons, who's... read more
High-powered Business Lunch – So last month I decided to try and impress my mom. She isn't too familiar with many of the nice New York restaurants so I decided to act like a well-educated big shot and take her to Bouley. Man, she was impressed, but was it worth the $220 dinner? I sure hope so! Food and drink was awesome. I had the Lamb with homemade sheep milk ricotta gnocchi and some other things. Everything was great as you'd expect from Bouley. Service was excellent and they were knowledgeable. Be sure to take someone her... read more
Save Your Money!!! – You can take your spouse/friend/relative to a much better place and also save tons of money! What can I say about Bouley?! It was simply disgusting! Food below par, waiting staff was wondering around helpless, after all this, the bill was extremely high ($175 pp) The place is old, needs new carpeting, and maybe good cleaning once in a while, it was dirty and worn down. What a disappointment and waste of money! Aside from few dishes and dessert, the rest of food was either bland or turned my stomach just ... read more
Great Experience – This place is great, so mellow. great ambiance, amazing wine list and great service. love the decor and the staff was really friendly. had the atlantic halibut and it was cooked perfectly. would highly recommend this great spot for all kinds of events, dates, dinner with the rents. it's just an all around sweet spot....
Utterly disappointing – Visited Bouley this week for the first time. Service was poor; waiters were slow and unpleasant. The food was below average. It lacked both the flavor and the presentation. The best part of the food was their bread. Afterward I was left with severely upset stomach. One more thing, the place does not look clean and in fact there is a distinct fishy odor in the air. I will never go back.
Waiters screwed us up!! – While I will say that the food was extraordinary and gets 5 stars, at the end of the meal an extremely frustrating event occured. Therefore, my rating is unfortunately reduced to 2 stars. After a fulfilling and pleasant meal, the waiter brought a bill which included the items we ordered (2 tasting menus, 1 mineral water, 1 bottle wine) along with extra items (embedded into our other items on the receipt) that we had not ordered (2 beef soups, 2 wine pairings, 2 teas, etc). How could this happen?? Wa... read more
One of the best in New York – We came here for dinner with a reservation. As we opened the door, the smell of fresh fruit put us in a good mood. The mood was then somewhat spoiled by the long wait for our table. Once we sat down, however, everything was prefect. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We had the sea bass and the lamb. Both were prefect, if a bit on the small side. The deserts were delicious. Overall, I consider this one of the top restaurants in New York. It is also one of the few top restaura... read more
