Flawless service, elegant presentation of dishes – Had a wonderful experience here. The service was perfect. Not overbearing or intrusive, but attentive. When I go out for a nice meal, I want to have everything appear when I need it, but don't want to have to chat with an overfriendly waitstaff. I prefer to focus on my companion. Bouley managed that flawless European service where things you need seem to appear in front of you before you need them. The food was also lovely. Suprisingly, the only item that disapointed was the... read more

bad attitude from the get go – We all know the old expression about first impressions. The delightful entry way with fresh apple lined walls is the most brilliant way to start an evening. That made it particularly startling when we received a sour greeting by the staff inside. When I walk into a restaurant, smiling, and say "hello" I'd like someone to smile and say hello to me, or "welcome", or "thanks for coming". I'd like to feel welcome. A blank expression and "what's the name on your reservation" were all I got. And no, ... read more

David Bouley's inspired, clever French-New American cooking still shines in his eclectic, cavernous Tribeca home. – The Scene Fresh-picked apples line the loge at the entryway, and their wonderful scent lingers inside. Two vaulted rooms, one an elegant ivory, the other a warmer crimson, offer plush chairs, fresh flowers, and odd--though not necessarily loud--acoustics. The feel is less stuffy than many restaurants of this caliber, but the service is no less polished. The Food Chef David Bouley's strength lies in layering fla... read more

One of my favorite restaurants in NY! – By far one of my best dining experiences ever! Bouley was not only pleasant to look at, but the food was amazing. Fresh breads wheeled right up to your table, 7 or 8 different kinds, great choice of wines, the appetizers were light and decadent, followed by main courses to make your heart melt. My father and i went together, and tried as much as we could on the menu. Nothing was a disappointment, everything was delightful. Now if i had been paying i probably wouldn't have had so much, ... read more

Exceptional! – Took my boyfriend here a few hours ago, and I am speechless. The decor is heavenly, very romantic, relaxing and not stuffy at all, and I was expecting it. The scent of the apples at the entrance is breath taking. Moving on, when making reservations,(2 days ago), I mentioned that this will be his birthday dinner, didn't think anyone would pay much mind to it. When we arrived (20 min early) we were seated immediately. We had 2 main waiters and 3 other men. We decided to stick with the tasting menu ($95pp), the s... read more

Just OK – I went to Bouley last night with my wife and we each had the tasting menu. We were quite let down by the whole experience at Bouley. In addition to being expensive ($95 per person), the experience was just ordinary and I've had much better dinners elsewhere in NY . The tasting menu was 5 courses, two of which were desserts and the choices for the other courses were heavy on the fish. There is no steak on the tasting menu for the $95 price but you can upgrade for an extra $45 to get 2 pieces of strip steak as one of... read more

Disappointing – My husband and I came here for our one year anniversary dinner. It was disappointing from the moment we walked in. When we were escorted to the table, I observed an insect (pretty large) crawling from underneath one of the dinner plates on the table. The hostess, who seemed young and inexperienced, tried to cover it up. We moved tables but nothing else was said about it. I expected someone to come over and apologize since we were about to pay for an expensive meal at what has been labeled one of the finest re... read more

Little value for money – This was our first experience with Manhattan restaurants. As Europeans, just returning from a trip to Lyon, France, we expected more than we got. Service was fine, although we asked for a pause after the entree so we could finish our wine before dessert and coffee, and this was just neglected. I think the food was too fusion. I had a panache of 3 different things, one was a shrimp with a coquille, and the other foie gras. That just did not taste well together. My entree was veal. That was fine, but n... read more

Worst waiter experience ever – I must admit the food there is quite good, and I had a very memorable lunch experience there a couple of months ago, and was REALLY looking forward to my tasting menu dinner there. The service by my waiter however so marred my experience that I don't feel like I ever want to go back there again. There was a misunderstanding with the menu and my order was not what I expected, which led to the waiter being very frustrated, which was fine, everyone is entitled to feel frustrated - but to express h... read more
