beautiful french dining – went to bouley for a special occasion - had a very enjoyable time. The dining room was lovely and the staff was very accommodating. The tasting menu was very good - and I appreciated them modifying it for my taste. The fish was incredible. Some things were a little bit over-buttered for my taste - the mashed potatoes, for example, were basically sticks of butter with some potato flavoring. The wine was good, although the wine list was very expensive and difficult to get a bottle *that was good* for ... read more

My favorite restaurant – Wow! I was surprised to read some of the recent reviews when this has been my favorite (and birthday tradition) restaurant for 4 ys. in a row. I love Bouley! Once again, we did the 4 course tasting menu w/ the wine pairing (by far the best wine pairing from all the top notch restaurants). We even asked our waiter if we could add in a 5th course (foie gras) since it wasn't one of the options on the tasting menu. Though I will say that it wasn't full of flavor and slightly under-cooked (and trust me, I... read more

Very mediocre and disappointing - terrible service!!!!!! – Ambience - poor. There were so many suited waiters and managers running around they were literally bumping into one another and hovering . Also, right next to our table was what looked like an end table with a large plant on it. But they used it to store menus in a drawer so all evening they were opening and closing the drawer to retrieve and put away menus. And, they stored half empty bottles of water and wine on top. It was very busy, distracting, and unappealing t... read more

barf...i mean bouley – i had a pleasant enough evening. however, later that night i was stricken with violent food "illness". i had to go the hospital where it was determined that the food "illness" that led me to the waste bin many times was caused by the mushroom salad i had eaten at bouley the night before. i know for a fact this is the case because prior to my meal at bouley, I had not eaten all day. so, I rang the restaurant as a courtesy to let the manager know I had fallen ill from the mushroom salad. I am surprised t... read more

Definitely NOT worth the price of admission! – I love French. But this was over-the-top to the point of tragic fall. (Be ready for digestive issues - e.g., mashed potatoes puree = stick of salty butter with potato flecks added.) One appetizer was very good. Nothing was excellent. Atmosphere was very charming. Service was very good, not excellent. Ok. So why am I not recommending it? Because for the price you can do infinitely better in NYC. The real insult was the wine list. A two star restaurant with a mediocre wine list is... read more

Great great experience – We had our office holiday dinner here, back in December. The experience was wonderful...there were 6 of us, all of whom took advantage of the tasting menu. 3 of us also added the wine pairing. The food was fantastic - each course better than the next. The service was excellent. All in all it was a great night.

Great value for lunch – If you have a day off, take advantage of the prix fixe lunch - a bargain for the level of service and food you will receive. The service was perfectly paced, not too fast yet not too slow. The decor is a little over the top, but nevertheless beautiful. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely will return again.

Rediscover Bouley people!!! – In this day and age of Greenmarket / Haute / BBQ / Tapas restaurant models, the city's New French cuisine venues have somehow gotten lost in the fog. Refresh your memory by experiencing what is arguably the best lunch deal in the city today. I had a 2pm reservation at Bouley and spent the next hour and a half in sheer awe of the culinary artistry of David Bouley's kitchen and Viennese Pastry Chef Alex Grunert's unprecedented creations. I had absolutely no criticism of any dish I devoured. What I... read more

Amazing! – I count late November dinner at Bouley among the top 5 meals I've ever enjoyed. I took my husband there for his 29th birthday. We were promptly seated in the smaller "white" dining room. I was a bit disappointed at this because I'd reserved over a month in advance and expected to be seated in the iconic red main dining room, but that was the last disappointment of the night. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. Every course was a masterpiece. I started with phyllo crusted shrimp, and moved on to a fabul... read more
