For almost two centuries the hotel has offered hospitality to locals and visitors alike. It began life in 1816 as a simple boarding house for summer visitors to one of America's earliest seaside resorts. Its owner, Thomas H. Hughes, called his new boarding house "The Big House". RecommendedWe went for brunch it was great. They work the dining outside different for the time of day so your not burning up in the sun
Really liked the way the outside dining was set up on the Veranda. It was windy and a little chilly however we were protected by the building. It was day one yesterday for outside dining and the staff did a remarkable job!! Also, kudos to the grounds keeper, everything looked so lovely.
Nice seat by the fireplace, delicious Riesling, gluten free beer, husband has celiac, our waiter, I believe his name was Chad, very knowledgable on what my husband could have, Fruitt de mere, shrimp, mussels, scallops, and clams delicious, Spaghetti Carbonara, top notch also.

Jean Butchko D'Angelo and I were there Friday. Just a great meal in a great atmosphere..really enjoyed our meal.
I love their skillet dishes! Staff was friendly. Finally sat in the fireplace side. Adored everything. Place was decorated for Valentine's day. I ordered the spinach, shitake mushroom, swiss chard, cheddar, macaroni dish! You can tell it came from their fresh farm. Definitely will go back!
