This much-loved restaurant reportedly was once the site of boxing matches refereed by none other than Ernest Hemingway. Now you will find avant-garde artwork in the gallery upstairs and great chow at modest prices in the restaurant. Caribbean flavors predominate and baking is done on the premises where desserts, rolls and breads pour from the ovens. All three meals are served here and Sunday brunch draws crowd. No reservations are taken, so be prepared to wait in line. That may, in fact, be half the fun.

Blue Heaven's Obnoxious Blue-Haired Hostess – If you enjoy being insulted by an obnoxious, old sea hag of a hostess whose face looks like a wrinkled old catcher's mitt while waiting an hour for a seat, then this is your place. If not, then DO NOT GO THERE!!!! Because I know I never will again. So much for Key West charm. I guess when a place becomes a well-known tourist attraction, courtesy and customer service take a back seat. I will be sure to tell everyone back home to boycott this place on principle. There are plenty of... read more
I love the Blue Heaven. They have some of the best entertainment in Key West.
Best Pancakes ever! – If you go to the keys make time to visit this restaurant. It is pricey but worth it. Do try to go when the rushes are over. My husband, my eight year old son and I went for brunch on a friday and were seated right away. This place was awesome. made me feel like i was in the tropics, my son loved the chickens and cats, i loved the whole place!
Dine with roosters in this fun and funky slice of laid-back Key West. – In Short More than 100 years ago, this colorful, ramshackle building and rambling courtyard were home to gambling, prostitution, cockfighting and boxing matches refereed by Ernest Hemingway. Now, home to more prosaic pursuits of dining, drinking and selling trinkets, it's an endearingly funky mishmash of picnic tables, bars, a gift shop, a water tower, a pingpong table, a rooster cemetery and actual roosters. It's everything eggs in the morning and Carib... read more
Best Key Lime Pie ... in a fun atmosphere! – Stopped at many places in the keys to try as many key lime pies as possible and this place's pie was THE BEST!!!!!!! We went at lunch time (just after 1pm) and didn't have to wait for a table. Servers don't dote on you, so if thats the service you need then don't stop here. All dishes ordered at our table were outstanding ... the lobster was awesome as were the grilled cheese sandwiches and the JamaicanJerk chicken cesear. The bread there is to die for. If you do stop here, go whe... read more
Terrific! – At the recommendation of our innkeeper at the Seascape Inn we walked to Blue Heaven for dinner. It was the middle of Goombay, and I feared that we'd never get in, but we had a table in 15 minutes. The service was great, the food outstanding, and the portions were HUGE! I'm no small guy, and I couldn't finish the BBQ Shrimp/Brown Rice/Black Beans, but it wasn't for lack of trying! My wife and I shared a boston bibb/gorgonzola salad (the server recommended we split it - we were going to each have one, and she was r... read more
Blue Heaven – It was my favorite restaurant in Key West. Good food. Great atmosphere. Great music. Good service. I enjoyed the outside dining.
Blue Heaven Restaurant Theres a quaint and special place to eat in Key West that locals and visitors alike just seem to rave about. I would guess its probably the most popular restaurant on the island if for no other reason then the shear numbers of people who inquire about it. Where else? Blue Heaven. Ive heard it called My Blue Heaven, Heavenly Blue, the place with the roosters and cats and numerous other configurations, but everyone seems to know about it. Is its popularity based on anything concrete, or is it just a faad... read more
I went here one morning and had a breakfast tortilla. I wasnt expecting anything amazing, but its one of the few breakfast places open at 8 AM. I was pleasantly suprised, it was the best meal I've ever had in my life, literally. A group I went with after recovering from a night of boozing went a few hours after I did and they said the same thing as I did. Fantastic!
