Excellent clinicians and supporting staff. Modern facilities - top notch care

Excellent cardiovascular surgeon. Awful food service. Bad bedside manors for icu. Non existing wifi.
This is not a review of BIDMC themselves but of how they go about cold calling patients. I just got a call from a number I didn't recognize claiming to be from Beth Israel. The person on the phone asked me to give her several items that could be used to prove I'm the person on the phone, to which I responded with "I'm not giving that information out until you prove to me that you're really from BI". Brilliant Dr’s, loving and caring nursing staff, you couldn’t find a better option for your health care, anywhere, period!
My elderly father was treated here. We received a phone call at noon time that he was being discharged and to come and pick him up “or he will be in the lobby”. We live over an hour away. We left right away. True to their word my 80 year old father was discharged to the lobby in a johnny. No clothes, no shoes, no form of communication, no walker that he needs to ambulate with. I was appalled. Totally unsafe, unacceptable and absolutely humiliating for him. They weren’t even kind enough to tell us which lobby they dumped him ... read more
Once again no communication from Dr... other than he was coming home.... not the case! He is admitted after a day surgery... which wouldn’t b issue BUT HE IS NECK BREATHER HE NEEDS HIS EMERGENCY KIT!! WHICH I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT IN IF SOMEONE THOUGHT TO INFORM HIS WIFE!!! This is 3 rd time admitted here.... Never have communication with anyone...
The surgeon we saw for a consult was great. He was highly professional, very knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions. 5 stars for him. I have no doubt the medical care provided at the BI is top notch. However, be warned, if you are handicapped, the parking situation at the Lowry Building is ridiculous. My father uses a wheelchair for transportation as he is severely mobility challenged and can’t walk more than a few feet. Only the first floor of the garage is handicap accessible to the medical building. Guess what? ... read more
