Becco

4.3

About this business

Inspired by his travels across Italy, Joe Bastianich opened Becco with his mom Lidia to much fanfare. The word Becco comes from the Italian verb beccare, meaning "to nibble." A great addition to Broadway's dining alternatives, the lovely restaurant is a popular pit stop for theater-goers. Sample their delectable prix-fixe pasta menu and the kitchen's redefinition of Italian flavors with an impressive wine list and seasonal cocktails.

We visited Becco after seeing a show. It was accomodatig to us as we had a reservation for 615 but got there early and were seated right away. Although the sea was next to the waiters station which was busy and noisy, we felt comfortable enough. We were very happy with the $29/ bottle wine list and chose the Da ma montipulciano abruzzo which was smooth, very tasty fruity and light. Then the bread came with bean dip and olive oil which y husband liked, but I asked for traditional olive oil that I seasoned with salt pepper and... read more

what a chaos, food was not too bad but they gave away our reservation, people pushing, waiters left and right throwing ceasar salad over any side of your shoulder ... not the place to enjoy ...

I was there Monday, Jan 4th with lunch reservations. We placed our order..and after 25 mins of no waiter and no food (It was 2 pm and quiet) we hailed our waiter and he told us we would have to wait another 25 mins because the Health Inspectors were in the kitchen and no food could go out! No comp, no apologies. Never saw our food because we didn't want to wait a total of an hour for food! Very poor service indeed. Not even comping part of our wine bill!

The staff was spot on, and the atmosphere was great! In spite of being New Year's Eve and booked solid, our waiter never missed a beat. The wine, apps and entree's were incredible! My family and I spent a week in NY, and dinner at Becco's was definitely a unanimous decision by all as one of the top highlights of the trip! Thank you Becco's

Only giving it 1 star because we never got to taste the food but the staff was nice although distracted. We were the only diners at this highly recommended restaurant. The waiter was most anxious to get our order in & brought out the salad & antipasta fairly quickly. But then we waited & waited until I called over the waiter (after 45 minutes) & he reluctantly told me that the Board of Health was doing an inspection in the kitchen & they weren't able to cook anything. First he said "a few minutes" but when prompted again, he... read more

I had two delightful meals at Becco during a weeklong visit to NYC over Thanksgiving. I can't say enough about the warmth of the staff: so attentive to the pacing of the meals, and wonderfully helpful in guiding me to food and wine choices that I will remember for a very long time. I particularly enjoyed the classic lemon chicken and the pumpkin panna cotta. Thank you Nino, Martha, Marie, and all the rest of the staff!

Party of four get the Bottle of wine, of course! We ordered the "three pasta" lunch special giving us plenty of time to leisure over our meal and walk over to 43rd for our matinee.

Been here before the "complainers" arrived.. Prior to Becco's the closest Italian they ever had was Mom & TaTa sharing a half of pizza from some dump on OCEAN ave in Brooklyn. Forget their assessment it's worth about 3 shekels......
