Beacon Drive Inn

About this business

Considered a regional landmark and ranked as the second biggest drive-in restaurant in the country, The Beacon is a must-see for visitors looking to eat local comfort food. This old-fashioned drive-in is famous among South Carolinians for their friendly service, Beacon sweet tea (largest single seller of sweet tea in the country) and deliciously unhealthy menu staples like the chili cheese dog, onion rings, hush puppies, BBQ plates and fried fish baskets. Service was great. Amazing staff and friendly. Food was just ok. I think the chili on the cheeseburger wasn't that great but the country ham sandwich was pretty darn good. Onion rings could have been cooked a little longer.

I've been to the beacon 3 times. I go for the experience, not the food. As far as main dishes go, it's wonderful. But the French frys are the average ones you can get in the frozen food section. Other than that, it's a fun experience. :)

After 18 yrs of not eating there it was still the same from 18 yrs ago. I missed the blind black man that called out the orders.
