Best va hospital I've ever been to, although the travel dept questions why I come there when there are other facilities closer to me....seriously ?

Dr. Augustinas is amazing he is my PCP and he called me one day and told me to come in for a CAT scan I didn't even know he was monitoring my lymphatic system, but I found out I had cancer stage 4 nonhodgkins lymphoma the most terrifying day off my life I thought I was dead, but lymph node removals in my leg, Dr. Cruz doing the lumber puncture I mean who keeps you laughing during a lumbar puncture, the nurses on the 5b Brian my chemo nurse on 4c and that whole crew & Dr Shaik my oncologist, it was a lon... read more
Bay Pines Medical staff is suburb. My husband had total knee replacement and everyone from the surgical team to nursing staff in Ward 3D and physical therapy team went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. And the volunteers, there are kind enough to describe them.
I've always been treated exceptionally well. Had an emergency room visit, everyone knew I was in pain, things were done in a timely manner, and I was called TWICE the following day for checkup. Great place!
Do yourself a favor and get private Health Care. There are a few staff members that genuinely care about veterans. The rest will treat you like a second class citizen. Long waits while in the offices and they are always booked months in advance for appointments. Doctors here see you from the writing on the chart. Not as a person. Unless you're going for a routine flu shot don't waste your time and energy.
I have been receiving my health care at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center for over ten years. I have received nothing but excellent care there. Most of the complaints I hear when attending to appointments are from people who, in my opinion are very self-centered. They have a choice. They can go private for their health care and pay for it. There they will also experience wait time when at the doctor's office.

The nurses are great, the doctors are great and I am confident being in there care��������
My overall experience was excellent. The doctors & nurses were some of best I've seen...very knowledgeable. The main hospital has more advanced tech equipment than other VAs I have been to. The only negative was the rude staffing in reception of one area, where they myself and 2 others sit in waiting area without knowing reason for their visit, while 5 of 6 of them played around...their disdain for vets was obvious, especially when i questioned them after 30 min of this.
