We had a wonderful 10-day stay at Barend and have already booked again for next year. Our family loved the quiet beach, with its shallow waters that are perfect for little ones. The green space around the lodges gave the children plenty of room to run and play, and the pool was a great bonus too. Our lodge was very well equipped, with a great selection of films and board games to enjoy on rainy days.
Great site. Very peaceful. Within easy reach of the beach. Lodge was very modern with everything we needed. Very spacious too. Great view from the veranda. Also very dog friendly.Dalbeatie is a 10 minute drive away with a well stocked Co op. The pool was excellent. Lots of rabbits roaming free. Very well maintained site. Would definitely come again.
Great location for a quiet break with some local golf courses such as Colvend and Kirkcudbright.
Spent the first 4 days cleaning the lodge, shower had hair and fluff all over. Hoover had to be striped as that was clogged with hair and didn't work properly. Fridge had congealed meat juices in the bottom. Mattress were thin and worn out. Only things within walking distance is the deer park which was good. And the beach was ok but mostly mud, but if you wanted to see the sea when the tide was out it's a 2 mile walk across the mud flats.
