I will never go to another Avis. I rented a 11 passenger van for our Spring Break trip from Texas to Colorado. I rented it on-line 2 months prior to us leaving. I called Avis on Thursday, March 11 to confirm our rental for Friday, March 12. The lady I spoke with said, "yes, your rental is here and will be ready for tomorrow." I've been renting cars from AVIS for the last two years last year alone I spent over $3500 on numerous rentals throughout the year. I've been a loyal customer and even enrolled into there point and rewards program. HORRIBLE. THE WORST - couldn't have had a poorer experience if I tried. Wretched customer service and extremely rude, unprofessional, and grossly incompetent owner/manager. My reservation wasn't honored - they ran out of cars and made no attempt to remedy the problem. I wasn't notified in advance that they did not have cars available. DO NOT RENT FROM Avis Car Rental reserved a month in advance prepaid for a Tahoe or similar through Avis in Burleson TX. Came and ended up with a cracked windshield, oil light, and no washer fluid, hail damage all over Chrysler Pacifica...was told "accidents happen" at the Burleson Location...hate to be a "Karen" but 1200.00 for this and all your company could do was give $160.00 back... trash straight up trash.
I rented a minivan to transport my terminally ill father from the hospital in Denver home for hospice care in Albuquerque from the 3-4th of February. First, they gave me an SUV instead, which was fine. I returned the car at around 4am on the 4th. I can't believe that this is the way that Avis conducts business but based on other reviews, it seems to be a common issue. I reserved for a convertible almost a month ago to be picked up at the Dale Mabry Tampa FL location tomorrow and to be returned next week. Renting from Avis was the worst rental car experience I have had. We rented a convertible from their Sandford International Airport location. We were extremely excited to enjoying our sunny Florida vacation in a convertible, but when we arrived they did not have the vehicle available and downsized us to medium sized SUV. Left my jacket in a rented vehicle when I returned it. Reported to Avis lost/found. They found the jacket. I paid around $30 for the jacket to be shipped to me. They shipped to wrong address (their error). I called and they corrected the address. It's been nearly 6 wks and I still don't have the jacket or a refund of the $30.
