The castle and gardens itself was lovely. I am writing this the day of visiting. My issue was with one member of staff. She stood before the entrance to the keep, by the stairwell leading to Matilda’s bedchambers. When speaking to the family ahead of us (who were white), she spoke kindly and explained a brief history of the stairwell.
