About this business

A man-made lake provides refuge to wildlife and dozens of tame ducks, providing entertainment for the diners at this long-established San Diego seafood restaurant called the Anthony's Fish Grotto. It also makes the hour-long dinnertime wait much more pleasant for kids and adults alike. Seafood is the best bet here and the daily specials offer great value and delicious preparation. The Clam Chowder, from Anthony's matriarch Mamma Ghio, is renowned, a rich red broth liberally studded with tender clams.

We used to love this place but our dinner yesterday was unacceptable. Ono was very dry, salad dressing too sweet, and the clam chowder was not as good as usual. The lobster was disgusting. To top it off, we had to haggle over our bill as we were charged $12 too much. After 70 years, it is time for them to go.

We used to love this place. We have eaten here for over 20 years. The food quality has gone down. The calamari was not crispy and was under cooked. The salmon was paltry, overlooked and lukewarm. There was not enough BBQ sauce on the salmon. The clam chowder was watery and temperature tepid. The snapper was not breaded well. The baked potatoes were not fresh and cold. We loved the view.

It's criminal that 1/31/2016 is the last day of the harborside location. I will never step foot in whatever opens in its place.
