I didn’t enjoy my stay here - the room hadn't been properly renovated in decades it seems and the fixtures and fittings felt cheap for a Manor House. Lovely room downstairs but a by the entrance. Mini fridge was a nice addition. Cooked breakfast was incredibly small so would have been nice to have had the option of more. My wife's Special came out as I was virtually finishing my breakfast, so a bit Fawlty Towers there. A used mug on the breakfast table which had been missed. Asked for room service which they brought fresh towels in but we made our own bed. Can't fault the room at all but the breakfast was a let down for both my wife and I.

We stayed for an Autumn break including the dinner at Fellinis or Zefferelis Restaurants. We had a lovely big room on the ground floor. Bed super comfy. Bathroom spacious. The mini bar and milk fridge is a great touch, a nice touch was a jar of home made biscuits. Less Breakfast choices if you need to follow a gluten free diet as the sausage, hash brown, granola and museli contain gluten. I would return for the breakfast alone, and I'm not even a vegetarian. The quality is fabulous and the service was great. On top of that, the rooms are appointed nicely, the bed are large adn comfy and the bathroom had been recently upgraded. It's just a few minutes walk into Ambleside and even that walk is nice as you travel past a lovely church. We will definitely return.
