I had an incredibly disappointing experience with the Altido Haymarket Hotel. Upon arriving at 4 pm, I was shocked to find my room completely unprepared—unmade bed, rubbish in the bins, and used towels left from the previous guest. I contacted the hotel immediately and was assured by a staff member that the issue would be resolved, but no timely action was taken. This was the worst hospitality experience in the the last 20 years of traveling. The Hotel cancelled my family's reservation shortly before arrival, during Edinburgh Festival Season. Giving us no suitable alternative rooms and refusing to rebook us to another hotel in the city, left us stranded, having to book another hotel last minute during festival season, costing a fortune. Then it took weeks to get my money back. If you have the option to stay literally anywhere else in the city, do it. I do not recommend.
