Excellent - wouldn't go anywhere else – I really like this salon. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere, great customer service and Vicky! I have been a client of Vicky's for 3 years & I have to say she is the best colorist & stylist I have ever had. She is so nice and really helpful. Average – I have to say, this place is not that great! I think the staffs are nice but their skills aren't the best in the business. I tried several places with higher pricing but results were peunomenal. This place is less expensive but the quality is as well just OK. If you have very easy to care style and know exact what and where you want it, by all mean, go for it! However, if you were like me, don't know exactly what hair color/highlight/haircut looks best on you...go somewhere else with more experience hair dressers.
Awesome Awesome Awesome! – I was coming to leave a stellar review for Alice Hair but there's already like 200! It looks like the secret is out! This place is just amazing. I was afraid (for a long time) to use any stylist other than Vicki but I tried Carolyn and then the other girls and it's phenomenal: EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE STAFF IS AMAZING! And believe me, I had been to literally dozens of hair salons in New York City before I settled on Alice Hair Care.
Alice Hair Care is an Upper West Side CLASSIC – Alice Hair Care is a New York INSTITUTION. My wife and I live nearby and we (nor any of our neighborhood friends) go anywhere else. Alice is a wonderful lady and she and her staff have a stellar reputation because they are all excellent. I am a straight male clothing designer and I know great stylists from poor ones.
Extremely Disappointing :( – I too moved here from California and just had to try this place after reading all of the great reviews; however, I have to agree with the reader who wrote "Not impressed, why the rave reviews?" This place is one of the worst. My hair wasn't a total disaster, but the cut was shoddy and the color was WAY too light. This place is brilliant! They are sooo nice and they saved my hair! Also, you can actually meet Alice! – So one day I decided it would be a good idea to try and dye my hair black. I'd never dyed my hair before and it was semi-permanent stuff bought at the store and it was my understanding that it would wash out. I think you know where this is going... It looked sooooo awful. Hair care you can trust – Alice and her staff are extremely professional, pleasant, and fun. I loved the cozy atmosphere, the personal attention, and the great service. Alice is quick to pick up what style suits you and efficient in following through with services. Prices are competitive as well, especially for NYC.
Best Hair Color/Cut – I have been going to Alice for several years. Alice and Vicky are incredible colorists and sylists. They have both worked with my impossible hair and futile attempts at self-mutilation (by way of self-coloring, cutting, etc,) and have always done absolute wonders with what my former hair-dresser husband called "impossible" hair. Fantastic color and Cut – I just moved to the city and needed a colorist. A work colleague has phenominal highlights. I am so lucky to have found Alice Hair!! All of the stylists are fun and personable. I looked through a sample book and found an awesome cut. The resulting highlights and cut were fantastic. I highly recommend this salon. ~Nicole
