So these guys came out yesterday to give me a free "nice to meet you" inspection after they supposedly bought out my previous AC company I used for yearly maintenance. The guy wasn't here 5 minutes and had just barely seen my AC and already was trying to hint at me needing to replace it with newer unit. My existing unit is a 15 yr old Trane packaged unit on the roof. It does use the R22 which is being phased out but until this point I have had no issues. The tech ,stuart,told me my furnace needed a new motherboard and a air blower. This would cost 2600 and would probably be a waste of money because system was 15yrs old. It would be better to replace entire system to the tune of 11000 dollars. Amazon price for motherboard is 50,blower is 150. Called another co.,they replaced a small blower called a stator mother for 250,furnace works fine. Stuart made up whole b.s. story about wet insulation being sucked into system ruining entire system. This company has the worst customer service. ACE proposed a repair solution to an A/C problem we were having with a "pancake" unit. The "solution" itself was installed improperly including leaving the plenum covered with "gummy tape" rather than metal as one would expect and with a 4" gap . It also improperly wired or connected the furnaces. Since this happened late in the season, October, we didn't recognize the problem until summer when our electrical bills were 2 to 4x normal.
